Travelling Route in Europe
During the three months stay in Switzerland, usually I spent my weekends travelling in Switzerland and also its surrounding countries. Sometimes, I took one or two days off before weekend when I made a far journey. My journey always start from Leibstadt(Switzerland) and have to come back again for work. As it is shown in the above maps, those travelling routes are in "O" shape because I used to take a different return route and had opportunities to take a short visit in another city on the way.

My first trip is Austria. It is the longest journey as I took a night train travelling more than 700km to Vienna for almost 12 hours. It is also the first time I travel by oneself, but luckily Europe is convenient for single traveller. The reason I chose Vienna because it was my promise to myself visiting the Schonbrunn Palace, which has been registered as World's Herritage. However, I found Vienna has more interesting places too. It is an ancient city with new fashion people.

Paris, never be neglected for travellers in Europe. It is a city of art galleries, museums, historical structures and fashions. I planned my trip to celebrate my birthday along with whole people in France as it is The French Revolution Day too. Unfortunately, it rained a lot in the weekend but the rain did not keep me away from walking around. And, luckily the rain stopped on time before the night to have fireworks near to Eiffel Tower.

I had a companion during the trip to Fussen, a small town in southern Germany. Fam, the guy I know since primary school, high school then university in Japan .... and also internship in Europe (he was in Erlangen, Germany). Yup, it sounds 'boring' to face a same guy for such a long time but it was good to have him there. Fussen attracts many visitors every year because it has a beautiful castle, named Neuschwanstein in a nearby village called Hohenschwangau. It is a nice place for refreshment but too quite at night. So, having friends to chat is easier to spend time there. Thank you Fam !!

Talking about sight-seeing in Switzerland, most people will think of mountains -- The ALPS. High mountains are in the central and southern part of the country. Jungfraujoch(3454m) -- Top of Europe, is a famous spot to take a view of 4000m height mountains in Alps. I did not reach there because it was short of time and the train ticket is too expensive for me. I spent my stay in Grindelwald(Interlaken), and the night there was a Swiss National Day(Aug. 1st) party with local traditional music and dances.

The next day, I was in Zermatt -- the most popular hiking area in Switzerland, especially the Matterhorn which is familiar for mountain climbers. The first team who reached the peak was dated July 14th, 1865. Unfortunately, all members of four were dead in their descent way. Zermatt has clean air because only electric cars or horse carriages are allowed in the town. All visitors have to go down from their vehicles and reach the town by trains, except he/she uses bicycle. Those pictures of Glacier was taken at Gornergrat(3103m).

Milan is the only Italian city I visited in this trip. It gives me a different image compare to those other cities I have been in Europe. Milan is a big city, buildings near to the main train terminal are new moden design. The city is crowded with people and cars. So, as expected it has emission pollution from vehicles. But, the big church -- Duomo is still an important tourist spot in Italy. Besides, "The Last Supper", painted by Leonardo da Vincci on a wall in Santa Maria delle Grazie should not be missed out too.

It was enjoyable in every trip. I met plenty of people coming from around the world. We chatted, exchanged informations, then talked about our experience in travel. I open my eyes, open my ears ... listen from the others, learn from things I see and realize, feel things surrounding me.

It may sound 'funny' as I traveled in Europe but I feel to love my home country more. Malaysia is a young country and its history can not be compared to countries in Europe. We don't have great historical structures but the future is decided by now. It is important to keep our identities while having fast developments. A strong nation only can be built with a united community. It is good to work in a developed society but it should be better to develop a nation belongs to us.

By the way, when the time I am writing this message, there is a war in somewhere else in the world. I wish the war will finish very soon and bring the world to peace forever.
