Do unto others was originally just me wanting to have a picture with words in it. Do unto others is a Bob Dylan song that I have had in my head for a while now and whenever I write something that phrase tends to come up. I know that the phrase has religious connotations, Dylan wrote it during his born-again Christian period, and I don't really like that since I'm an atheist, but you don't have to be religious or a Christian to agree with it and/or live by it. But I don't agree with it totally. Especially not in the current war in Afghanistan. The complete phrase is as you know " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" (or something like that, I have forgotten the exact quote), in other words treat other people as you want them to treat you. If the Afghans chose/chooses to act according to this they will have to do nothing when the US army attacks since that is what the Afghans would want the US army to do, do nothing, i.e. not attack. But I think that the Afghans not only has a right to but should defend themselves and defeat the US army, and that would not be doing unto others what you want them to do to you. On the other hand I would be very happy if the US army chose to do unto others what they would want others to do to them, unless being attacked by terrorists is what they want. Hence the question mark in my picture.
