Well where do I begin? I dont really know without being too self indulgent but i guess it goes like this (your gonna need sometime, this is kinda long!):

I was born in 1980 in the sunny old place called Derby. I cant remember too much about when I was a toddler so Ill skip those first 5 years of my life. I went to Moorhead Infant school and later onto Moorhead Primary. I had some brilliant times in that old place and I guess I miss it a little. I made some great friends, some of whom I still see and are great friends with still (you know who you are!!). Towards the end of primary school (when i was about 11 I guess) was when I started to discover who I am, eg: musical tastes etc. The first band I ever got into was....wait for it..."Guns 'n' Roses", I adored Slash and Axl and really digged that whole rock star thing (little did I know!!).

When I finished my primary education I moved onto Noel Baker Secondary school. BOY, WHAT A WAKE UP!!!! This was when all life as I knew it totally changed! Puberty happened, first time I was exposed to drugs, drinking , girls etc. Just as i was starting Noel Baker, I think it was a little after, Christmas maybe, the Nirvana boom happened. I remember the first time I heard "..Teen Spirit" WOW it totally rocked my world and changed me I guess. I was no longer a little coperate rock whore, but instead I started listening to Alternative bands and stuff, My best friend at the time was Marc Bentley (he's moved to Lincoln now and I havent seen him for about 6/7 years) his brother was like "the rock God" in our school and got me into bands like "Neds Atomic Dustbin", "Dinosaur Jnr" etc. He was in a band "Sugar Spud" but they never got anywhere, the other band at that time in the school was "Indigo Maze", we all loved them (well worshipped is the word I'd use). I moved up through Noel Baker, letting my grades slip as they do when you discover girls and stuff, when you have to be "cool" and not be a geek!,when you fake notes to get out of P.E. 'cause you cant be arsed or to embarrased to show your ever changing, pubescent body! At about 15 i started listening to a band called Green Day (you might have heard of 'em ;)This was my first exposure to what would would be the driving force behind my life - PUNK ROCK. I started getting into alot of old school bands to, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, etc. About this time was when I took up the drums. I stared getting pretty darn good on the old tubs and my parents bought me a drum kit that Christmas. I practised like a loon and I was the first person I knew that could actually play "Basket case". My friends Bobby and Chris had started a band a couple of months previous and had a drummer called Dave Slack or "Slackey". Dave was really into death metal and thrash, whereas Bobby and Chris were into Green Day and stuff like that. Bobby soon noticed I guess that I had become a better drummer than Slackey and had the same musical tastes as him. Suffice to say, they booted Slackey out and got me in!! The first time I was in a band and it was great!!!, we used to practise every Sunday without fail - Myself, Bobby on guitar, Chris on bass and Grant singing. We soon got a gig playing at the Autumn musical concert. We played 2 songs, "knockin on heavens door" and "Man who sold the world" We really rocked that night (to all the Mums and Dads!!) and we ended up getting ourselves in the Express newspaper (ill put the pic up when I can be arsed) We called ourselves "Armitage Shanks" - after The Green Day song and the toilet! We played only one more gig with that line up, the school spring fate. By some twist of fate we ended the gig and kicked Grant out. We carried on as a 3 piece with Bobby on vocals. Soon after Chris had to leave to work at Do It All so we draughted a guy called Dan Hartley in on bass (he couldnt play but we didnt care) We covered loads of old school punk songs, The Pistols, Clash, The Members, we even did a little NOFX and Rancid. We didnt last long as we found ourselves drifting into different musical tastes. Bobby had become a fan of Indie stuff and Britpop (he now plays drums for Condenser by the way) and i was getting way more into my punk.

Fast forward a couple of years, I went to 6th form but dropped out after the first year. I then got a job as an IT support assistant Modern Apprentice at Wilmorton College(where I still work this day)fancy title - SHIT job!!, but thats another story. I had been learning Bass for about 3 years by this time and was getting pretty ok at it I guess. I looked around for a band for about a year and couldnt find anything, so I just carried on playing in my bedroom, learning NOFXsongs and stuff. Then about a year ago I answered an ad in Play It again Sams for band members wanted to start punk/ska/pop band. I rang the number that night (I was going to see Snuff and Mad Caddies that night and was hella excited) and I spoke to Paul, he seemed pretty cool and we arranged to meet at the gig later that night. None of us could get in because it was sold out so we went to another pub for a drink and a chat, he bought along a guy called Mark who sang for his old band "Fubar". We all got on really well and so "Spankachief" was born. We played about 5 gigs as Spankachief, Myself on bass, Paul on drums, Mark singing, John on guitar and Jay on Guitar. We were really terrible but to my surprise some and i say "some" people actually liked us. To this day I still get some kids come up to me and say "you were in Spankachief, I loved you guys" - FUCK KNOWS why!! Spankachief soon split, and I found myself in another band "Jerrys Final Thought", basically Spankachief but with Dave on guitar instead of Jay. We didnt last long and never had a gig, but we had good intentions!!!!

....and so that brings me up to the present I guess, there was so much more to tell but I've probably bored you already!!

Peace

Stuart
