| The Emergency Management Training offered by the Institute at Emmetsburg, MD is very comprehensive. They do have several courses available online as well as well as by mail for Independent Study. Please visit the site and look around. You are sure to find something you need or would like to try. There is no cost for the Independent study unles you want University credit for course completion. They Offer that option as well. |

| Recent activities and projects of the County Emergency Coordinators Office The County Emergency Operations Plan has been completed. Revisions are required this year by ADEM. I have assumed duties as the Primary 911 Coordinator in lieu of VA Service Officer new number is 853-9444. Raymond Haley is the Deputy 911 Coordinator 853-2070. Ray is now the Veterans Service Officer as well. We will be working on several projects this year: ID Cards, Pre-disaster Mitigation Plan thru the SEARK Development District. Up Grade of 911 system to Phase II and Enhanced 911 to give coordinates of cell callers anywhere in the county. We also need to Plan for a tabletop Exercise different from last fall (different Threat). I appreciate all the LEPC members and hope to see you soon. Jerry Foreman, OEM/911 4/22/04 |
| WHAT IS LEPC ??? LEPC represents Local Emergency Planning Committee. WHAT IS THE AUTHORITY? SARA Title III, Emergency Planning and Community right to know act of 1986. WHO ARE MEMBERS? Positions on the Committee are dictated by Federal Statue, SARA Title III. Members are appointed by the LEPC Committee (see list to the right). MAY CITIZENS ATTEND MEETINGS? Yes, however to address the Committee you are required to provide written notice of intent to appear to the Chairperson prior to the meeting. In general the intent of the Committe is to make available to the Citizens of Ashley County, information they need to know to prepare or protect themselves against Chemical/Hazmat attacks or exposure. |
