Although this mod is listed in the modification section, I have never left the 6x9's in for more than a test fitting purpose. I came onto financial hardship and had to sell them. I will probably get another set this Christmas.
I had some trouble at first with this, because there are no instructions. The following is for the driver side. 1. Mount the selected speaker to the Metra (brand name, others are available) kit with included screws. 2. Cut off factory terminals and save (in case you go back to stock). Replace with correctly sized female ends. As an alternative, some stores (Autozone for one) sell adapters that plug into your stock wiring and have the correct female ends already installed on the other end. 3. Take speaker in your hand with the metra kit on top of the speaker fixed to it (thick portion towards rear). 4. Then you shove it up in the rear deck, between the grille, package tray, and torsion rods. 5. Take the metal wire and make sure the pointed end is towards the middle of the car and the two ends towards the rear quarter. 6. Make sure that the LONGER seperated end is in BACK of the speaker 7. Once you have it all lined up, hook the metal jobber up on the drivers side and let it hang, 8. Place your speaker and kit in place, grab the wire thing, bring it on each side of the speaker and hook the pointed side on the factory clips in the rear deck 9. Hook up your speaker wiring (with your new female ends). 10. Do the same to the other side, making sure the LONGER seperated end is in BACK of the speaker. NOTE: Not all 6x9's will fit in this position. There is limited magnet size/depth. Measure before mounting! If I remember correctly, its between 2.5" and 2 5/8" depending on the diameter of your magnet. If it doesn't fit, you have five options if you speaker doesn't fit: Get a smaller 6x9 speaker, use a 4x10 mounted with sheetmetal screws, grind down the torsion rods (if there is a slight rub), remove the torsion rods (and replace with air springs from 78-81 regals), or mount the 6x9 in a custom enclosure, such as next to the rear seats. Thanks go to Neil Werner, for helping me with this my first time !

As you can see in this pic, this is how the kit would go into the car for the Passenger side of the car.
