THE LANGUAGE OF ROMEO AND JULIET THAT CAN BE HEARD TODAY:
star-crossed lovers
if love be blind
parting is such sweet sorrow
as gentle as a lamb
above compare
past help
light of heart
on a wild goose chase
in a fool's paradise
we were born to die
what's in a name
the weakest go to the wall
what must be shall be?
go like lightning
I will not budge
where the devil?
let me alone
a rose by any other word
fortune's fool
Now that you have seen how Shakespeare has contributed to the our modern day speaking style, I would like you to choose a minimum of ten of these phrases and write your own short story.  You may also use other familiar sayings found in Romeo and Juliet, if this will help. The short story may be about anything that you wish to write about...school, sports, friends, anything.  It should be between one to three typed pages.  After you have completed this, please click on the image of Juliet to view your third and final aspect of this task..
