TWVA
JFK Hub Featured Flight #2
BACK TO HOME PAGE
Training. As pilots of airplanes, we all are constantly learning new things. Those of us who have the fortunate ability to be flying the real planes, we are constantly learning and training. As part of our Virtual Airline, TWVA, we also should be constantly learning and training ourselves even on the computer. Now for this new featured flight, we are going to practice a series of takeoff's and landings at several airports in the JFK vicinity. The fun part of this is you can choose whatever JET aircraft in the TWVA hangars you wish. The hard part will be getting the planes up in the air and back down again in the most efficient manner.

I hope everyone is up to this challenge. Have Fun!!

Assignment:
Fly from John F. Kennedy Int'l (KJFK) to LaGuardia (KLGA) to Newark International (KEWR) and then back to Kennedy (KJFK) performing a full stop landing at each airport. Each segment should take you about 20 minutes for about 1 hour total time.
Equipment:
Me getting ready for some real life training in a Cessna 152.
You may use any of the TWVA jet aircraft (including the regional jets). The challenge arises in getting the big planes up and down in such close proximity of each airport.
Conditions:
Note: There are two separate conditions for this Featured Flight according to your pilot rank.

For pilots with a rank of RJ first officer or higher:

Flights are to be flown under IFR rules. Set your simulator to 100% cloud cover with a ceiling of 500 feet and cloud tops at 7000feet. If you are using FS2002, you can even add rain to the mixture. Also, use of Vatsim would be advisable because you can have controllers guide you around the airports or set up the flight as IFR in FS2002 and have the built in ATC control you. Maximum altitude during any part of the segment should be no greater than 5000 feet unless instructed by ATC to change. Also, don't break the 250kt speed limit (even this can be a bit of a challenge).

For all other pilots (Trainee - Express Captain):

You may do the flight under the IFR rules as listed above or you may perform the flight under VFR rules and clear weather. Altitude cannot exceed 5000 feet and the 250kt speed limit must be adhered to.
Flight Time Paid:
Since this is training, flight time will be paid at 200% normal rate (i.e. 1hour = 2 hours). Please report your actual time flown. I will add the extra rates on. If you perform the flight using VATSIM, time will be paid at 200% normal rate.
