| Benefits and Uses of Binoculars |
| No matter how experienced you get you will never outgrow binoculars. Binoculars are great on their own at a dark site particularly panning the Milky Way. Some things are best observed with small apperture instruments at low power and binoculars fit the bill. Binoculars have a stereo view effect that enhances an image. They are always a great tool for scouting out an object or the star patterns near an object to help find it in the smaller telescope fields. In order for them to be most useful you out to be able to hanhold them with relative stability for more than a few seconds at a time. For most people this will limit them to 50mm lenses at 7x or 10x (7x50 or 10x50)but some will tell you that they enjoyed their 7x35s or that they were able to handhold 60mm or 70mm aperture binocukars so try them out and see what works for you. For complete stability or for those larger aperture binoculars you will need a bino mount. |
