She will explain that the underworld is rising. And that is coming to destroy the Human world. Trish will bring you to an island known as Mallet Island. It is there that you begin your journey. Take a little time to get acquainted with the controls. When you are ready, start heading up that path. Make sure to get the yellow orb on your way, b/c it will help. As you run up the path you will go under an arch, jump on the arch and go into the little carousel and jump to get a Blue Orb fragment. Then continue your way up the path. Once you go into the castle, the wall will seal behind you. Mission 1: Curse of the Bloody Puppets. Objective: Break the evil spell and open the cursed door This one is pretty simple. First you must search this room for every Red Orb possible, you need them to open the sealed door. There is also a blue orb fragment that you can get by double jumping to. 45 red orbs will open the sealed door. When you go through, there will be a gate and another door, go through the other door. To your left is a door, go in and take the stairs up as far as you can go then go through the door. There will be a door, a marionette, and a box beside the marionette. Jump on the box and jump up. There will be a marionette standing there with something glowing in its hand. Grab the glowing thing, which is a Rusty Key. When you start to leave the marionette will come alive, be prepared for a simple fight. When you jump back down, ignore the door and take the spiral stairs back down. Go through the door and back through the other door. You will then be back in the room where you collected the red orbs. Walk up to the horse statue and make a right, keep going right and you will reach a locked door, use the rusty key to open it. Once you go through there will be another door, if you try to go through it, it will seal. There will be an area with a big symbol on the wall, it is sticking out of the wall. Keep slicing it until all the little symbols light up fully. It will act as an elevator and bring you down. Be prepared, as you will now have to fight marionettes. After you defeat all of the marionettes, take the elevator back up. Watch out, more marionettes await you upstairs. If you wall jump near the middle, you can jump onto a plane, which has a blue orb fragment on it. Make sure to collect any red orbs that are being dropped. After you defeat all the marionettes, the seal will be broken, then go through the door. Mission 2: Judge of Death Objective: Open the door of the cathedral From where you start off, there is a door farther away from the screen near the painting. This door leads to the God of Time statue. Come to her whenever you need to buy vital stars or any power-ups. Run through the hallway. Ignore the door on your left, but be careful, marionettes are waiting for you. Take care of the marionettes (you want the red orbs they drop) and continue through the hallway. When you reach the end there will be a door and a sword in a sculpture on the wall. Talk to the sculpture and you will receive the sword Alastor. If you have noticed, you now have strange symbols under your health metre. That is your devil trigger. In Alastor’s case, when you use your devil trigger you will become a demon who specializes in electricity. To charge your devil trigger, just attack enemies. Then press L1 to use it. You can buy power ups from the God of Time statue. Then go through the door beside the sculpture. You will enter a library. Break every table you see, as it will give you red orbs. But when you break the table on the second floor, it will drop something on the floor, press X at it, and you will receive the shotgun. There is also a picture on the second floor with something glowing on it. Press X at it to receive a Rust Key. Then go back through the door. Remember the door I told you to ignore? Go back to it and use the Rusty Key to open it. You will see a glowing energy field, jump above that and you will notice a door and stairs, take the stairs and follow it all the way around. There will be parts where you have to jump across a gap, do not worry, they are simple jumps. There will be marionettes waiting, so watch out. When you make it all the way around, go through the door. The door will automatically seal behind you. And marionettes are waiting on the inside, so be ready. After you dispose of all of them, walk a little bit and you will soon see an alter to your right. Keep swiping at it until it is totally out of the way of the trap door on the floor. Take the door down, as soon as you land, there will be a glowing item in front of you. Take it to receive the Staff of Judgement. After you take it a door will open behind you. If you notice, you are back in the library. Go to the entrance of the library and try to open the door. It will seal, and you will have to fight 2 Sin Scissors. This is your first encounter with them, so I will tell you, Always be on the move if they are close. After you defeat them, the door will unseal, go through the door. You will notice little spider-like creatures on the floor near where the statue used to be, press X at the statue to use the Staff of Judgement and open the door. Mission 3: Destroyer of Ardor Objective: Overcome the trial and acquire the “Pride of Lion” The mission starts with you entering the cathedral, then both doors seal. It will show an altar before you get to control Dante. Go to the altar. Press X at the shining object, it will say something to you, then unseal the door far behind you. Go through that door. Run across the big path to the other side. Grab the red orbs and press X at the thing in the middle. It says something to you and tells you to go back, on your way back, the bridge will be struck by lightning and collapse. You will land underwater, walk forward and flying skulls will appear, you can fight them the hard way, but 1 shot from the shotgun will kill them. Then go to the centre to bring you back up. Go into the cathedral and go grab the Pride of Lion. Alastor will start to get electric, telling you a big evil force is coming. It turns out to be Phantom. He will say something and you must fight him. Boss fight: Phantom The fight starts off with Dante jumping in the air. He we go, your first boss fight. You always want to be in the move! Stay in one spot, you are a goner for sure. If you need to use a vital star during the battle, go ahead. What you want to do for this battle, is always jump attack Phantom, or if you can jump on him, jump on him and keep slicing. Whenever you get devil trigger, use it. If you already bought some power ups for Alastor, feel free to use them, they will be helpful. Some moves Phantom will do are, blowing a big lava ball out of his mouth at you, try an hit you with his tail, and make lava pillars come up from the ground to hit you. If you keep moving and shooting and attacking, you’ll do fine. After you defeat him, he will run away. Collect the orbs and go through the door that just broke the seal. Mission 4: Black Knight Objective: Display one’s strength to the Lion and open the path. Acquire the “Melancholy Soul”. Buy now you should have enough red orbs to buy a few power ups. I suggest getting the Alastor power up “Air Raid” as it is very helpful. Once you get that, feel free to get whatever else you want to get (if you want to). When you start to head down the hallway, Phantom will appear behind you. You can either go through the door beside you, run away from him to the door far away, or take him head on. After he is gone, go through the door where he started to chase you at (if you already haven’t). We are back at the glowing energy field. Use the Pride of Lion to deteriorate the energy field. Once it is gone, destroy the lion statue. 2 Sin Scythe appear. Take care of these ladies the same way you took care of the Sin Scissor from before. After you defeat them, go through the door that the seal just broke on. Jump to the bottom of this tower, and you will see another symbol on the wall. Keep hitting the symbol until it totally lights up then jump on the platform in the middle. Once it reaches the top, jump to the platform that has the glowing sword on it. Grab it and you will receive the Death Sentence. Jump back on the platform (the platform that brought you up) and then jump to the ledge that has the stairs. Run down until you see a door, go through the door. Beside a mirror you will see something glowing. Press X at it and use the Death Sentence. You will receive the Melancholy Soul. Alastor will start getting electric again telling you some evil force is around. A little cut scene will start and you will see an image of Dante come out of the mirror, it will then change into Nero Angelo. He will draw his sword and tell you to follow him. Go through the door he just went through to start a battle with him. Boss Fight: Nero Angelo Nero Angelo is a swordsman, so he will have many attacks that involve fighting with his sword. Be careful though, because he also has magic attacks that he can shoot from afar. Always keep slicing and jumping, b/c guns will do you know good here. Just like with Phantom, when ever you get devil trigger, use it. When you damage him enough he will move to a higher area and tell you to come. Follow him up. After you damage him more, he will move to an even higher area, follow him up again. Then when you damage him enough, a cut scene will start, and the battle will be over. Mission 5: Guiding of the Soul Objective: Go to the destination before the power of the “Melancholy Soul” fades away This is a pretty simple mission. You have 3 minutes to get the Melancholy Soul to the place it needs to be. The door will be sealed though, and you have to fight 3 Sin Scythes to unseal it. After you defeat it, take the path you took while fighting Nero Angelo (going higher and higher) until you are at the top, then go left and jump down to the door. Once you go through the door, go straight and then go through the door in front of you. There will be a few Sin Scythes waiting, but ignore it and jump to the bottom. Then go to the door. Mission 6: Evil of the Waterways Objective: Defeat the evil guardian and acquire the “Guiding Light” Once again, you should have a decent amount of red orbs, may I suggest that you buy the power up “Round Trip”. It will be very useful in times to come. When you start, take the path that is walking away from you (you not Dante) and at the end, go to the left wall and jump, you should get a blue orb fragment, which should equal 4 fragments. Then start running towards the you (you not Dante), and when you turn the corner there should be a metal door on your right. Go in it. Go further into the room and you will see a glowing light. Press X at it to receive a Rusty Key. Grabbing the key made a lot of evil bugs come out to get you. Your guns are very helpful in this situation. It’s time to go trigger happy! Once you kill them all go back through the door. More bugs await you on the outside. After killing them, run away from the screen until you reach a big metal door, use the Rusty Key to open it. Now keep running through the path until you see 4 flames on the floor. Walk in the middle of them to make an evil Sin Scissor appear. Mini-boss battle: Super Sin Scissor You cannot leave the little area you are in, so be careful. When he starts to spin keep jumping, or else he will hit you. When he is done spinning, give it everything you got. He has many attacks to hit you, such as swinging his scissors at you, or doing a windmill with his scissors, and of course, trying to cut you with his scissors. After you defeat him, continue forward and make a left, you will see something shining, press X at it to receive the Guiding Light. Mission 7: Holding the Key of Ardor Objective: Return to the bedroom before the “Guiding Light” absorbs all of your vitality. You have to move quick in this mission, b/c holding the “Guiding Light” slowly deteriorates your health. There will be marionettes where this mission starts, feel free to take them out. Once you go through the door, there will be bugs, you MUST kill them in order to break the seal and get out. They are everywhere, so look carefully (they are not through any doors, only in this room). Once the seal breaks, go through the door. There is yet again more bugs, feel free to take them out, once you are done hit the symbol on the wall until it is fully lit up, then take the platform in the middle up. Jump to the ledge with the stairs and run down to the door. Go through it. Go to the Sun plate on the wall and press X at it. Use the guiding Light to open it and the Press X at the vault/door. Run across the platform and jump to the other side, then go through the door to start mission 8. Mission 8: The Legendary Knight Returns Objective: Activate the mechanism and escape from the rooftop If you walk forward you will see the God of Time statue Jump above, get the red orbs, and go through the door on the second floor. Run forward and jump the ledge, Head towards the opening but the gate will close, and now I have two words for you. He’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. Boss Battle: Phantom (2nd fight) This time, there is no holding back, plenty of room to do some damage. Once again, if you have your devil trigger, use it. Phantom will still do most of the same moves, it’s just that he is more angry, meaning he’s more bad then before. But this battle is almost the same to the first time fighting Phantom, so you shouldn’t have many problems. But this time, after you defeat him, you can kiss him goodnight, because he is gone for good. After the fight is over, the gate will open and you can continue on. Be sure to pick up the red orbs before continuing. Jump down and there will be a shining object, grab it to receive the Trident. Keep going forward and jump down into the hole. There will be a handle for you to hit. It has two glowing white rings around it, just hit it with your sword. Activating that will open the bridge on the outside, and opening a door. Go around the machine to the door, you will also see a skeleton with something shining on it. Press X at it to receive the Grenade gun. Then go through the door on the floor. Run straight and press X at the little mechanism with the face behind it. Put the trident in it and get ready to run. Jump over the gate that appeared behind you and go through the door. Kill the marionette if you want and go to the spiral stairs. Go downstairs and through the door. You will notice the gate is open. Go through the gate and out the door. Mission 9: New Strength Objective: Use the new strength to open the door. Cross the bridge, the bridge will then close. Go down the stairs and around that stone tablet, behind the stone tablet is a devil star if you would like it. Then go down the spiral stairs and through the door. You will enter a big field. Now you are introduced to a new enemy. Reptiles. To take them out you have to jump attack them so they lose there shields and helmets, then just slice to kill. If you want, ignore them and continue on. Run straight and you will see and entrance to another area. There are flames on the floor that show you the entrance. Go through it. Here is where you gain your new strength. Wall jump on the side to the floor above, then wall jump to the floor above that or just take the stairs. Get the items on each end of the floor, then hit the symbol in the middle of the top floor. Hitting the symbol until it is totally lit up has led a path way going up. But this is a tricky pathway. You have to jump from platform to platform until you are at the top. When you get to the top platform there is something shining. Press X at it to receive the weapon gauntlets Ifrit. You now have a new weapon and ability. When you equip Ifrit, you can change into a demon that possesses fire skills instead of electricity. Now when you buy power ups, you can buy them for Alastor or Ifrit. Jump to the bottom and you will have to fight some marionettes. After you kill them, go back through the way you came. A cut scene will start. You do not have to fight this battle, you can just run through the doors and leave. But for all you battlers like me, let’s do it anyways. Boss Battle: Griffon Griffon’s attacks consist of electricity. He has many moves, he will fly fast over head and drop electricity balls on you. He will also shoot out an electrical ball, which will spring out electrical lines that will close together while trying to hit you. Just avoid these by jumping out of the way. Another move he has is he will fly overhead then zoom down fast on top of you. What you want to do is use your devil trigger for him (obviously), but since he is moving around a lot, turn on devil trigger and start to shoot at him with Ebony & Ivory. It will damage him well. You could also turn on devil trigger with Alastor and use Air Raid. When Griffon lands, you want to jump on him and attack him normally, preferably with devil trigger on. After defeating him, grab the red orbs and follow the flames on the floor to the door. Then you want to use Ifrit to light the flame on the other side of the door. Just punch it. The door will open, then go through. Marionettes will be awaiting you. Be ready to take them out. Then go through the door. Keep going forward, you will see a God of Time statue and another doorway, go through the other doorway. Go down the stairs and take out the marionettes. You have to use 200 red orbs to break the seal, after doing so, go through the door. Mission 10: Canyon of Mist Objective: Come out of the labyrinth canyon alive When you enter the canyon, run forward and you encounter some marionettes, take them out. After you defeat them all, press X at the stone tablet with the light under it. It will tell you to follow the light, follow it into the next area. In the next area will be 3 Sin Scythes, kill them in order to continue. After you kill them the light will continue, follow it to the next area. In the next area 3 Reptiles will be waiting for you, kill them in order to continue. After you kill them the light will continue, follow it to the exit. Once you exit the area, there will be a monster that looks similar to Phantom, but it is not made of lava and is much easier. Kill it to go on. Mission 11: Fate Objective: Offer the “Chalice” and open the path When this mission starts, there will be a Super Sin Scythe, the toughest of all the Sins. Ignore it and jump into the hole in front of you. But don’t think your worries are over, in the hole are Reptiles, just dispose of them however you like. There is a wall with light shining through it, break it with your sword and kill the rest of the reptiles, then jump on the ledge and continue. When you jump out of the hole, run forward and grab the glowing item, you will receive the Sign of Chastity. Then jump back in the hole. Then jump out of the hole from the way you first jumped in it. Run around to the other side of this area and go through the door. Walk forward and use the Sign of Chastity to receive the Chalice. A cut scene will start. And look who is back for round 2. Boss Battle: Nelo Angelo (2nd fight) Nelo Angelo has decided he wanted a rematch, but this time, there is no where higher to run to. It’s just gonna be a one on one fight. He will pretty much use the same moves, only he will be quicker, stronger and smarter. He will have a few new sword techniques that are pretty easy to manoeuver around, just watch out. After the battle is over Nelo Angelo will disappear again. Grab the red orbs and go to where they showed you in the cut scene after you defeated him. In order to get there you need to go to the side and wall jump up, run around the side and jump up to it. Go in and use the Chalice to open the door. Then go through the door. Mission 12: Ghost Ship Objective: Go to the deck and head to the Captain’s cabin. Before the mission starts, you will get a brief explanation on underwater controls. Obviously this means we are going to be going underwater. When the mission starts, follow the path and go down the stairs, take out the marionettes. Break the orb statue to get some red orbs, then jump in the water where the ship is. Swim to the bottom of the ship and go in through the hole. As soon as you get in the ship, swim up! When you are out of the water, go up the stairs. There will be 2 Reptiles waiting for you at the next area, so watch out. Take them out then grab the shining thing near the other set of stairs. You will receive the Needle gun. You automatically equip this when you go in water, and you use it like any other gun. Go up the stairs and into the next room. You will be on the main deck now. Go to the door with the 2 glowing swords in front of it and press X. You will then HAVE to fight a Super Sin Scythe. Mini-boss Battle: Super Sin Scythe The Super Sin Scythe is the strongest of the Sins. You must be careful. He will summon mini tornados on the floor which can make you fly high and helpless, allowing him to attack. When he starts to get hurt, he will summon 3 other scythes giving him a total of 4 scythes. Just attack him like you would any other Sin. Just watch out for his moves. If you shoot at him he will usually spin his scythe to block them. After you defeat him, go to the door with the 2 glowing swords on them and press X. Torches will light up and the ship will start to move. A cut scene will start and Dante will get a little surprise. Boss Battle: Griffon (2nd fight) Griffon appears and blows out the flames which close the door with the 2 glowing swords. There is only one thing you can do. Take out Griffon. Griffon has most of the same attacks, but he has a few new ones. For starters, he will send out an electric bird that attaches to you by a small electric string and will fly back and forth and try and hit you, if it hits you, it will bring you high in the air leaving you wide open for attacks.. Just keep shooting it and it will disappear. Start shooting at Griffon until he finally lands on the ship, then turn on devil trigger mode and just keep shooting like crazy. Griffon will keep sending lightning to come down and hit you, just get hit, b/c you are in devil trigger your health regenerates. Keep shooting Griffon until the battle is over. In this battle, Ebony & Ivory are your best friends. After you defeat Griffon, the door will open again, go in it. Mission 13: Abyss Objective: Find an exit from the ship The mission starts off with Dante in the captain’s cabin. There will be a mini statue holding something shiny. Press X at it to receive the Staff of Hermes. A cut scene will start and the boat will then fill totally with water. Here is where you get to use your Needle gun. You can no longer go through the door, because of the water pressure, but on the right of the mini stairs to the door is a little window/vent, go through it. In the next room, there will be 2 Reptiles waiting, use your Needle gun to kill them. It will break the seal and you can go to the next room. Remember, you cannot use your devil trigger underwater. When you get into the next room, don’t even bother with the Reptiles, just go to the hole and leave. You will appear in water, swim to the surface and get out of the water. Keep moving forward and you will find a pathway. Kill the marionettes, then continue on. Run up the stairs and through the door. Mission 14: Deep Darkness & Towering Mountains Objective: Go to the surface and head for the coliseum Run down the stairs and into the room, and the wall will be spikes and you will see holes in the floor. Keep following the path, while you follow the path you will see an area blocked off by a gate. Remember that area. Keep going and eventually you will come to a wall with spikes and a skeleton with something shining on his arm. Press X at it to receive the Emblem Shield. Turn the skeletons arm lever to open the gate and activate the booby trap. Remember the gate area I told you to remember? We have to go there. To get past the booby trap, we have to run and avoid the spikes coming out of the floor. Once you get to the area where the gate opened, take the platform elevator up. You will be outside, run down the steps and continue on forward. You will see an entrance in the rock. Mini-boss Battle: Super Sin Scythe Yep, another one, I won’t go into detail with this one. The only difference is you have a bigger area to battle in. Just take him out the same way you took out the other Super Sin Scythe. After you beat him, search the area for red orbs, because you need 200 red orbs to break the seal. After you are done, go to the bottom floor, go through the passageway, break the seal, and go through the door. In the next room, marionettes await you. Take them out. Go up the stairs and use 100 red orbs to break the seal. Go through both doorways and through the metal door. Mission 15: Wheel of Destiny Objective: Use a shield and a pair of lances to conquer the coliseum The mission starts where you fought Griffon for the first time. Watch out, those Phantom look-alikes are here. 2 of them to be exact. After killing them, follow the flames on the floor. They will bring you to a door that has decoration on it. You cannot get in it yet. But to the far left and far right of that door, are 2 glowing shields. Go to the red glowing one and press X (it doesn’t matter which order you do them in, just follow along to make it easier). Use the Emblem shield to eliminate the red glowing shield which reveals a door. Go in, don’t go down stairs, go around the stairs. There will be a marionette and something glowing. Press X at the glowing light to receive Luminite. This helps you see in the dark. Now go downstairs. Kill the marionettes that are down there, then go to the doorway that is blocked by a wall with a crack in it. Break down the wall and go through. This is just a small room with barrels, but we are here to get some orbs. After you collect all the orbs, go back and go through the door (not the one upstairs. The one across from us). Go down the stairs and you will see a moving floor with a spike wall, you have to run on the floor and hit all the symbols until they are totally lit up. There is a room on your way across the moving floor that will fully regenerate your devil trigger whenever you stand in the light that is in it. Once you reach the end of the moving floor, you will the 2 platforms, jump from platform to platform, then jump to the platform that has a shining light on it. Press X at the light to receive the Pair of Lances. The platforms will then close, and you will have to jump down and fight 2 Reptiles. After you kill the Reptiles, run to the end and jump on the pillars to get out. Run back across the moving floor to the exit and go back through the door. Go up the stairs and back out the door that you first came in. 3 Sin Scythe will be waiting for you. You can kill them or ignore them, whichever you want. Run straight across from where you are to the shield glowing blue. Press X, use the Emblem shield and eliminate the shield glowing blue. Go through the door. Since we already have Luminite, go downstairs. Kill the marionettes, then break the wall with cracks in it to get some orbs. After that, go through the door across from us (not the one upstairs).Go down the stairs, and you will notice another moving floor, but this time, instead of symbols to hit, there are 3 Sin Scythes. Kill them. You will also notice that there is a room to charge your devil trigger just like in the other one. Once you reach the end of the moving floor, you will notice that there are small platforms to jump to. If you miss the platform the first time, there are pillars to get you out like before, but be careful, there is toxic waste on the floor. Another way of doing this is by turning on devil trigger, and using Air Raid to fly over to the platform with the shining object. When you get to the platform. Press X at the shining object to receive Nightmare-beta. This is a powerful gun that requires devil trigger power to use. Leave this room, go up the stairs and go through the door we originally came here from. Now go back to the decorated door, and use the lances to open it. When you go in, run to the centre of the coliseum and a cut scene will start. Boss Battle: Griffon (3rd fight) Does he ever give up!?! Well, let’s hope he does. Griffon will have a lot of the same techniques. But first, we have to get to the top floor to fight him, it’s much easier this way. If you look around, you will notice inside a small room is a tornado-like energy field in it, go to it and get taken to the next floor up. Still not high enough, take the stairs to as high as you can go, then run out on the platform. Here is the easy part. Pull out our good buddies Ebony & Ivory, and blast away. Turning on devil trigger can speed up the process. Eventually Griffon will fly up high, then fall and crash on the platform, knocking you off. But Griffon cannot fly anymore, because one of his wings has been cut off. So now, we will go back to when we first fought Griffon, slice and shoot, using devil trigger whenever you need it. He still has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, but this battle shouldn’t last long. After the battle ends, a cut scene will begin. At the end of the cut scene, it will show a platform appear in the middle of the coliseum, grab the red orb and jump onto the platform. When you get to the bottom, run forward and press X at the statue with the shining object to receive the Wheel of Destiny. Mission 16: Nightmare of Darkness Objective: Unravel the mystery of the “Staff of Hermes” Before you take the platform out of there, grab the blue orb. Then jump on the platform and leave. Exit the coliseum and follow the flame path to the door you must take. Go through it. Run up the spiral stairs and back to the bridge. Use the Wheel of Destiny to lower the bridge. Cross the bridge then go through the door. In the next room, there is only one door to go through now, so go through it. When you reach the next room, run past the horse statue and all the way to the very back of the room, you will see a symbol on the wall. Light it up fully and a cut scene will start. You will then have to fight an electrical monster (can’t remember its name). After defeating it, it will break a seal. Then go through the door where the seal just broke (there is blue orb fragment in the room where you fought the electrical monster). Once you go through the door there are 2 Reptiles. Kill them if you want then go through the other door. Run through the hallway, there will be marionettes, so be on guard. Kill the marionettes then continue going through the hallway. There will be only one door now, so go through it. In the next room, before you get to control Dante, it will show a strange puddle of water. Press X at it and a monster will come out. Boss Battle: Nightmare Nightmare, a monster made out of nothing but nightmares, the spirits of the evil dead, and pure evil. He has many attacks. One of them is swallowing you. But you being swallowed can be to your advantage. If you can kill the monster that is inside of Nightmare, you can weaken Nightmare greatly. If you do not want to be swallowed, it may take some more time. Whether you get swallowed or not, you are going to have to kill him the rest of the way. There are symbols all over the walls, just go to one of them and make it light up fully, it will make Nightmare reveal his core. Then go jump on nightmare and start slicing his core. It will damage him. That is how you kill him. You can also use Air Raid, which is very effective. The monster inside of Nightmare during this battle is the skulls you fought underwater, and Phantom. Remember, Nightmare is made up from all the spirits of the evil dead. Kill the skulls then prepare to fight Phantom. After you kill it, a light will appear that will let you get out of Nightmare. He will be damaged somewhat from this battle inside of him. Nightmare’s attacks consist of shooting tiny beams at you, and shooting other things at you. He also has this really big beam that he uses to hurt you. He also has a move that makes a small lance out of a part of his body which he uses to stab you. Just keep moving, and always use devil trigger when it is ready. Air Raid is very effective, but if you run out of devil trigger before the core goes back in, run up and slice it as much as possible. Just keep repeating and this battle isn’t that tough. Once you defeat him, go through the door opposite of where you got the Pride of Lion (not the one you came in). Start running across the bridge, and now you can either jump from piece to piece, jump down and kill the skulls, or fly across (using Air Raid). When you get across, go around the middle piece and go behind it, and press X at the symbol. Use the Staff of Hermes to make 2 paintings appear. Go to the left painting and jump in it. Mission 17: Parted Memento Objective: Slash away at the dragon and enter the court with the Quicksilver If you didn’t already buy other power ups before, you should have plenty of red orbs now. But feel free to buy power ups whenever you want. Go to the spiral stairs and run up them. Run as high as you can go until you reach a door. Go through the door. Run forward and another painting will appear. Jump in it. 3 electrical monsters will be there. Kill them then continue on through the door. Run up the stairs and kill the marionettes. Do not make any turns until you can’t go any further forward. Then make a left and there should be a door. Go through it. Run forward and a dragon skeleton with shoot fire at you, deflect it back with your sword. When it is destroyed a mirror with a light should appear. Beside it is a handle, Press X at it. Then spin your left analog stick clockwise making the mirror turn. Eventually it will make something appear. Wall jump to get to the second floor, then run across to near where the dragon skeleton was. There is a platform higher than where you are. Jump to it. Now, there are invisible platforms that you can see when there is lightning, jump to the invisible platforms. Keep going until you have gotten to the item that appeared. Press X at it to receive the Quicksilver. Jump down and exit the room. Do you remember the first turn you saw that I told you not to take? I want you to take it now. Go to it and there should be a door with a hole in it. Press X at it and use the Quicksilver to open it. Run forward, and a cut scene will start. Then, it is time for a showdown. Boss Battle: Nelo Angelo (3rd fight) This is it. It is do or die. Run or fight. Well, you have no choice. It is fight. This is your final battle with Nelo Angelo. He has pretty much the same techniques. But of course, he is faster, stronger, and smarter. He has one new technique that you want to watch out for though. He will fly far away from you and make knives appear above your head. He will make them fall on you and give damage. Right before they shoot down at you, they will back up. As soon as they do, jump forward. Another way of getting rid of them is by getting to Nelo Angelo before they fall and attack him. Just try your best. After the battle is over, a cut scene will start. Nelo Angelo will disappear. And all that is left, is the other half of the amulet that you have. And if you did not understand fully. Let me explain. Dante thinks that Mundus killed his mother and brother. But Mundus didn’t kill his brother, he enslaved him, turning him into Nelo Angelo. Sad, isn’t it? Mission 18: Spirit Stone, “Elixir” Objective: Throw the “Philosopher’s Egg” into the fire and transform it into a Spirit Stone The mission starts off with Dante’s amulet combining with Vergil’s amulet, making a perfect amulet. Dante will then acquire, the legendary sword known as Sparda, which was wielded by none other than Sparda (Note: The sword Sparda does not have a devil trigger). After that, a portal will open, go in it. When you return. Another painting appears, jump in it. You will then be underwater. Swim through the broken wall and make a right, continue swimming until you go through the first gate, then make a left. Then swim forward and make a right. Swim forward and it will bring you into another room, still underwater, but with 3 Sin Scissor waiting for you. After you kill the 3 Sin Scissors, a gate will open, go through it. There will be a door. Go in it. Across from you will be a symbol on the wall, slice it until it is fully lit up. The room will then fill with water, swim to the very top of the room and to the shining object. Wait for the water to drain then press X at the shining object to receive Philosopher’s Egg. Start running down the stairs, jumping when necessary, until there are no more stairs, look around and you will see a small red and green door. Go in it. Jump down and press X at the blue flame. Use the philosopher’s egg and then get ready for some fun while the philosopher’s egg is changing. Boss Battle: Nightmare (2nd fight) Here we go! Nightmare. Dante. Second round. Can Nightmare make a comeback? I don’t think so! Nightmare has all the techniques that he has had before, with maybe a few tricks up his sleeve. If you want to get swallowed to do the “damage” then you should know what is down there. There are the skulls again, and there is Griffon. Yep that’s right. So if you think you can kill Griffon than go ahead and get swallowed. After you come back up, there are only two symbols on the walls that you can hit. So go ahead and hit one of them until it is full lit up. Then repeat what you did in your first battle, and you should do just fine. After you defeat him, the transformation will be complete. So go press X at the blue flame to receive an elixir. A portal will then open. Mission 19: Enter the Corrupted World Objective: Open the gate to the Underworld. Take the portal back to the room you came from. Go through the door and go down the spiral stairs as far down as you can go. Then take the portal back even further. It will then say the elixir is responding to the other painting. So go jump in the other painting. You are now in the bedroom, go to the bed and get the blue orb fragment beside it and the Untouchable on top of it. Then go to the mirror and press X at it. You should see waves in the mirror, now press X at the mirror again and you should go through it. Go through the door that leads to the balcony. Jump down and press X at the shining object to receive Philosopher’s Stone. 3 Nothing’s (type of monster) will jump down and attack you. They shoot explosive eggs at you. And they can grow really big. Just take them out anyway you want. Be careful, because when they die there bodies explode, so you don’t want to be near them. After you kill them double jump on the wall opposite of where you came in. You should be on a pathway, follow the pathway and jump across the gap. Then double jump to the floor above you, run forward, and jump down to the door (grab the blue orb fragment if you want). Go back to the mirror and go through it. Take the portal back to where you used the Staff of Hermes. Run forward and cross the bridge again and go back in the castle. It will tell you something about the puddle of water. Go on the puddle and press X. Go forward and you will see a cloud of some sort on the floor. Beside it looks sort of like an eye. Go to it and press X. Use the Philosopher’s Stone to open the gate to the Underworld, then jump in. Mission 20: Showdown with Nightmare Objective: Head to the place of sacrifice You start off in the Underworld, run forward and jump up to the next floor. Keep running forward and cut the red layer blocking your way, you will then have to fight (if you want) 2 Nothings. Continue going and there is another red layer. Cut it open and go forward through the passageway. A cut scene will start and you will be trapped, because someone wants a fight. Boss Battle: Nightmare (3rd fight) It’s time we teach this thing a lesson. Just like before, he has the same techniques, but one new one he has is that he can make a boomerang-like weapon that he throws at you. For those of you who want to get swallowed, inside Nightmare are the skulls and Nelo Angelo. There are two symbols that you can use, light up one, and attack. About half way through the battle, Trish will hit you with her powers, she has betrayed you. Continue the battle, but watch out for Trish’s attacks. After you defeat Nightmare, his orb will come out and it will stay out, attack with EVERYTHING now, the orb will shoot lasers so watch out. After you defeat that, it’s a nice cut scene. Mission 21: Living Cave Objective: Pulsate the heart and open the last gate There is a red layer, that if you try and get near it, it will be closed by claw-like things. Continue passed it and go through the door. It will then show the heard you have to pulsate, and a big door that is really sealed. Jump from platform to platform until you reach something that has three white rings circling it. Keep slicing it until it breaks. That will open the red layer that you tried to get to before. Go back through the door and go to the red layer that was blocked by the claw-like things. Cut open the layer and go in. Jump down and start running. The floor will be moving but don’t worry. As you continue to run you will then have to fight a Nothing. After you kill the Nothing, keep moving, or something will come from below and hurt you. Killing it will also break the seal. Go through the passageway that you didn’t come in from. Keep running and you will have to fight another Nothing. Kill it and it will break the seal. Continue on again. Keep running and you will have to yet again fight another Nothing. Kill it, it will break the seal and you can cut open a grey layer. Then go through it. There will be 2 electrical monsters waiting for you. Kill them, then hit the symbol until it is fully lit. It will bring up two pillars. Jump from pillar to pillar and then to the next platform. Hit the symbol on the wall of the platform that you jumped to, it will rise 2 more pillars. Jump to them, and you will see a red layer. Cut the layer and go through. Jump across the platform and hit the symbol until it is fully lit and it will break the seal of the big door. Jump down and go through the door. Mission 22: Legendary Battle Objective: n/a You start in a big cathedral. Run forward to the big statue. A cut scene will start. Boss Battle: Mundus You start off far away from Mundus, as you fly towards him. You can shoot as much as you want, so hold [] and fire. He will shoot rocks at you, and lightning bolts. When you get near him, there will be four symbols around him. You must shoot those symbols until they break and then press devil trigger. Sometimes he will try to use big beam on you, just move out of the way at the last second. Keep doing it and it shouldn’t be that hard. Boss Battle: Mundus (2nd fight) Now you are on the ground. Mundus will be in the middle of a lava pit. He will shoot those rocks with symbols on it, break them to gain devil trigger power. He will also rain down little energy beams to hurt you. He also will shoot a wave of lava at you. One other thing he would try to do is punch you. Sometimes he will summon a dragon that will shoot a fireball at you. Just hit it back to it and it will die, and you will also get health. He is very repetitive, so you will know what to expect. Keep fighting with all you got, using devil trigger whenever you get the chance (since it is against Mundus, when you use devil trigger, you will get the powers of Sparda).. After you beat him there is a cut scene with Trish. Mission 23: Mother’s Guide Objective: Escape Mallet Island before it collapses You have 5 minutes to escape Mallet Island, so you better move fast. Exit the cathedral, to where the heart is pulsing. Jump from platform to platform and exit that room. In the next room where the God of Time statue is, there are 2 electric monsters waiting, you don’t have to kill them, just run past them and cut the grey layer open and go through. The next room (where you fought Nightmare for the final time), there are 2 Nothings. You must kill them in order to continue on. After you kill them, cut the red layer and continue on. In the next room is another 2 Nothings, just ignore them and go through the cut red layer and up the energy field. When you are back up to the human world, go to the door on the right (it’s blue) and go through it. Run through the hallway all the way to the end and go through the door on the left. The door has a seal on it and there are evil bugs all over. Kill them to break the seal. When you go through the door a cut scene will start and Dante will fall through the ground. Mundus will appear and he will start dragging himself towards you. This is where you do it all!! Unleash as much as you possibly can on him to defeat him. If you don’t do it on time he will kill you. A good strategy is Air Raid and Round Trip. Use these in Devil Trigger and you will defeat him fast. You know it is over when Mundus says “What is the matter?”. You have to then use devil trigger than shoot with Ebony & Ivory. A cut scene will start and then you only have one more thing to do. Have some fun with a plane! To shoot with the plane is [], you need to shoot to move the rocks out of the way. When you see the light, you’re out! And then what happens is.....YA RIGHT! Like I would ruin the ending for you! HAHAHA Congratulations on beating Devil May Cry!!!
