Well, everyone mite think this is a little bit odd, but i am going to teach you all about Brittany Spaniels....mostly cuz i have one. Lol....o well.....lets start off with a little bit of history and a bit about the breed.

The Brittany was bred in the French province of the same name in the mid-1800s, quite possibly from crossing French spaniels with English Setters. They hunt in heavy brush by flushing their game for the hunter's gun. This breed was originally known as the Brittany Spaniel for its spaniel-like size and heritage, but the Brittany Club dropped "Spaniel" in 1982 to recognize this dog as the smallest of the pointers.

Brittany Spaniels, also called Epagneul Bretons, are the smallest dogs from the group of pointing retrievers. They have originally been bred for shooting and have preserved their functions. Nowadays, Brittanys are used for a variety of purposes. They do well in hunting, field trials, and perform well in a show ring. Besides, the breed tends to make a wonderful pet. 
Brittany Spaniel Dogs - Description 
The Brittany Spaniel is a squarely built dog of medium size. It is very active and enjoys a variety of activities. The Brittany Spaniel has a clipped gait, a peculiar feature of the breed. The breed is relatively easy to care for. The coat is not very dense and requires little grooming.

Height: 19-20 inches 
Weight: 33-40 lbs

The Brittany Spaniel has a rounded skull. The triangular ears are set up high. The eyes are brown. These dogs have a relatively long neck that mends softly into the shoulders. The Brittany has a broad chest and straight forelegs with sufficient bone. Many breeders prefer to crop the tail.

Brittany Spaniel Dogs - Temperament 
The Brittany Spaniel is said to be very intelligent. The breed tends to learn things quickly, yet needs consistent training. These dogs may be willful and need to be socialized early. Despite the fact that the Brittany Spaniel has inborn hunting instincts and is likely to obey most owner commands, obedience training should be a priority when raising a dog. Do not overlook the importance of obedience skills. Training should start early and continue throughout the life of the dog. 
Brittanys are people-oriented dogs. They do not do well when left along for a long time. The breed does well with children and other pets. Play is one of the favorite activities of the breed. It is important for the dog to be involved in something. Otherwise it is likely to be bored. Overall, a lot of physical activities are strongly recommended for this breed. So is mental stimulation. Brittany Spaniels like to please their owners and make affectionate pets.

Colors: Orange/white, liver/white, tri-colored, roan patterns.
Coat: Dense, flat, wavy coat, not curly, some feathering on the legs.

Care and Training: The Brittany Spaniel needs minimal trimming of their hocks and feet. Grooming twice a week is sufficient. Regular nail care is necessary. Brittany Spaniels need regular exercise or they may become restless. They will benefits from training with a firm but soft hand.
Learning Rate: Very High, Obedience - High, Problem Solving - High

Activity: Very High
Living Environment: Prefers a home with a back yard, needs plenty of exercise and an active owner who prefers a high energy dog. Brittany Spaniels can adapt to an apartment living. Usually a one person dog, but they will adjust to a living in a household.

Health Issues: Healthy dog. Some cases of hip dysplasia, glaucoma, skin problems by allergies. Possibility to be high strung and nervous if poorly bred.

Country of Origin: France
History: It is possible that Brittany Spaniels may date back as far back as 150 A.D. More accurately they can be found in French and Dutch paintings and tapestries from the 17th century. The Brittany Spaniel is said to have come from France in the province of Brittany. They were first exhibited in the early 1900's in France and made their way to the United States in 1931.
