| Late at night I watched you breathe And watching you sleep made me cry The night so still, your body so warm The gentle pound of your heart was my lullaby If that night could've lasted forever In your arms I would gladly have died I could let forever pass us by Just lying there by your side But you can't hold on to an angel Whose wings get in the way I can't make you love me forever And I can't make you stay And if those wings are stretched to fly To see if the grass is greener on the other side I've got to let my angel go To let your heart be your guide Some people run their whole lives Never knowing what they are running from They become so afraid of falling in love When happiness waits if only they'd succumb Loving someone is not for the weak at heart For it can break even the strong But if that love is mutual Then the world is yours and you can't go wrong I could look into your angel eyes And all I see is a reflection of me But I know deep inside you there lurks a doubt That even I can't help you free I'm just so tired of running from love And I took one moment to let it sink in Now, you have made an impression on my heart And things will never be the same again I love who I am when I'm with you You make me feel beautiful and whole again You bring me laughter through my ocean of tears And, God, how I love you then As long as love encourages you And inspires you to be your best Then you know you can only grow as a person You're too special to settle for anything less I'm tearing down the wall around my heart now Just to let you see inside I might have tried to appear so tenacious But what I feel, I can no longer hide You see the real beauty in me The beauty not everyone sees I'm telling you now because holding back can kill And eat at you like a disease So, now I step back and let you fly But my heart is going with you wherever you go And I just couldn't go on the rest of my life With the fact that I never let you know I'll be looking over my shoulder, hoping to see you return And until the day that you decide A flame, for you, still burns -Kelly M.
