I'll begin with the blood moon since that is the new year in the eyes of
the wheel of the pagan year and holiday Imbolc if i have time...
In the days of power its a time for the turning of seasons the cycle of
moons which contain 13 full moon ritual celbrations and 4 are determined
by solstices or equinoxes, the other 4 are based on olde pagan folklore
it gives structure and order to the pagan year the names are celtic and
common among wiccans
the sabbats are solar rituals marking the point of the suns yearly cycle
the esbats are the wiccan full moon celebrations during this time its
of celebration
the moon brings a source of energy and symbolizing the goddess we tap
into the energy to produce magic
October 31 Samhain and the blood Moon... the blood moon the new year...
a killing moon when when you do hunting for winter food and clothi
Blood is the force of life now the time to offer up your reedest wine in
thanks to all the deities to what we have obtained reddest carve
pumpkins light candles in them to honour our ancestors
its a greater sabbatt the altar is in the west its the new year, Memory
of witches family and friends, Very <<<--- Serious sabbatt, when the
veil is the thinnest, Party Hard Dood! Novembers eve, Feast of the
dead... Feast of apples and on all Hallows Eve we once marked as a
time of sacrifice (Traditionally the dead will take on the animal
persona to ensure our continuing existance)a time of refelction Lookig
over the past year getting used to the phenomonom of life-death in which
we are not in control the wicca feel that on this night between the
physical and spiritual realities are thin...
Hades well we have covered the 13 phases of moon and one
holiday so far
Samhain pronounced several ways, "Sam"Hayne, S'ow'Win it means summers
end... samhain was the time when the meat from hunting and from
the farm animals were preserved for the winter there was also tallow or
meat fat to make candles during this time pumpkins gords zucchini from
the gardens were used for carving the jack o lantern was normally a
gourd witha candle that children carried thru the woods to light thier
way they carved faces to frighten away any scary animals or unfriendly
spirits. its a time to focus on the year...make goals plans...fortune
items tools were used... the thimble button rings coins.. but thats
another session of itself..its a dark season that deals with the death
and dying. death is part of the cycle of life we know this as sure as
the sun rises and falls... we deal with death face to face in many ways
a good time to remember and touch those we honoured in the past...its a
sence of the loss in our hearts our emotional reaction to death its a
way to not take life for granted and knowing the others are on the other
side.... A time to live Life Fully and TO move on Keeping goals in
mind for the year to come.. ok im done... =)
does the pagan year follow the same chronology as
the calendar year?
begins in Winter.... January... the pagan Year begins in the blood
