Welcome to Mporokoso
Welcome to Mporokoso.  This is my home town for the year.  Population is roughly 2000 but that is really up in the air.  Some say closer to 1000.  It is hard to tell where the town ends and the villages start.  Typical story where one mud hut is "in town" but the mud hut next to it is" out in the village".
Boma: This is the Bemba word for city center.  It can also be used to mean the market; as this is usually the city center.  In Mporokoso, there really isn't too much more.
Andrew in his corn field:  Growing corn is easy if your guards do all the work.   Don't I look a little like Russel Crowe in Gladiator?
Clean Restaurant:  This is a lie.  The other side of the building has the menu painted on it.  It is also a lie.  All it sells is nashima and chicken.  There are better places to eat in town.
Christmas Pinhanta:  Self Explanitory?  The pinhanta is a bird.  This picture also lets you in on the local colour options of toilet paper.  At this point they don't understand why they are hitting the bird with the stick.  The candy comes out in a about five minutes.  Then only the strongest survive.
Edwards:  This is the UNHCR's driver in Mporokoso.  The Fonze of Mporokoso.  He is a menace to chickens and goats though I think he secretly runs the town.  He is standing in front of Chishimba falls.  Jason slips into the little pool right behind him but is fished out before he goes over the large falls right below.
Dinner:  This isnt one of the better places to eat.  It is my kitchen.  The stuff was part of a goat's digestive tract.  I graciously gave it to the guards.  All very generous of me.
Goat Boys:  Mporokoso traffic jam.  Most goats in town are not tied up but these guys must have been bad.  Despite the rural look of the picture, we are in the dead center of Mporokoso.

Kafula:  She claims it is a common name in Bemba but I haven't met anyone else with it.  She is the daughter of the World Food Program guy in town who also happens to be our landlord.  She doesn't claim that it is her natural hair colour.
