The most important service An inevitable offshoot of our Criteek of the Wique is a discussion of the Publisher of the Week (POW).
Our Publisher of the Week reviews the ways in which online and traditional publishers treat us as writers. Publishers are invited and welcome to join the group in order to defend themselves against our justified criticism.
Hmmm maybe we should work on that last sentence in order to make publishers feel more welcome :-)
We have to be careful. On some occasions, publishers and agents may frustrate us with their policies, but we need them and they need us. Thus, we have to avoid a potential adversary relationship that could develop. Thats what POW is about. POW helps us understand the publishers point of view. We hope that this improved understanding will ultimately lead to some satisfying contracts among our subscribers. In some cases, it is indeed necessary to stand up against policies that we, as writers, perceive as being unfair. POW offers our subscribers an open line to cooperating publishers, and we can present our points of view as writers. We may also use our strength in numbers to effect a change in publisher policies. Please be sure that the Subject line of your messages begins with Include information about your guidelines, style requirements, web address, and contact information. Tell us what we need to know in order to assure that you will publish our splendid manuscripts.
