Capcom:
Nintendo's Greatest Licensee, America's Best Friend
Face it, Romstar dont know shit. Jaleco, Hi Tech, Ocean, all of these names failed to present the world with quality, fun games. They churned out games faster than Willy Wonka churned out chocolate, and the results were not delicious. Title after title, the angelic children of the Nintendo nation were presented with sloppy graphics, shoddy gameplay, and simple carelessness. Game companies were too focused on the almighty dollar, they forgot what made games so great, time and devotion, love and perspiration. As a result, of the over 800 games released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, only some stand out as true brilliance, as golden beacons to the stars. Where do many of these great games come from, you might ask. THQ? No. Vic Tokai? Haha. In the golden age of Nintendo, a few good companies held the reigns of the greatest titles to ever be released. And at the top, presiding over all, delivering heart-filled, exciting games was the great Capcom.

Wow, the name itself gives me chills. Somehow, not even the greatest physicists and botanists can figure it out, this little company turned the world of Nintendo upside down and made gaming exciting again. And they did it with care for quality. While lesser licensees threw out games at an average of 3 a day, Capcom spent many months, often over a year developing one title. And the gameplay really benefited. The games had great stories, great vibrant graphics, precision gameplay, foot-tapping soundtracks, and a spirit and exuberance the gaming world hadnt seen since Super Mario Bros. Such diamond titles as Little Nemo:The Dream Master, Bionic Commando, Gunsmoke, Ducktales, Ducktales 2, The Little Mermaid, Rescue Rangers, its breath-taking. And dont forget the Megaman series! Those games alone are enough to spark a revolution. And in a way they all did.

Capcom forced the gaming world to push the envelope, to make better games. But most important was the children. Shelling out 50 or 60 dollars a game was a lot for your average 9-year-old. For such a large amount of dough, they should get a quality game, and with Capcom they got more than that. They got the thrill of Megamans blaster firing at Dr. Wily, their hearts raced to the intensity of Gunsmoke, and they stayed up at night dreaming of the glory that was the Ducktales series.

These were games that touched your heart and stayed with you for life. Games that take you away from the Judeo-Christian capitalism monarchy and whisk you away to a world of sunshine and adventure. Where else can you feed candy to a gorilla and ride its back, fight Flinthart Glomgold for treasure, or battle Indian thugs? Nowhere but the world of Capcom. Thank you Capcom for your care and commitment to game development. Thank you for your love. Thank you, from a true power player and Capcom lover for life.
