HONEY AND ARSENIC

web site devoted to yiddish poet Alter Esse3lin

I've created a web site devoted to the life and work of the Yiddish poet Alter Esselin (1889-1974). He wrote and published three volumes of bitter sweet lyrical poems...the first one in 1927 ("Knoitn", Candlewicks), the second one in 1937( "Unter der Last", Under the Yoke) and the third one ("Lider fun a Mdbarnik", Poems of a Hermit)--the last one received the Harry Kovner award for 1954. His work was well regarded by by Yiddish critics--including Jacob Glatshtayn, S. Niger and O. Rapoport. The web site provides a very complete survey of his life and work and contains: eighty of his finest poems in both Yiddish and English translation; a biographical memoir describing his life, commentaries regardding trhe origin and meaning of his work, signifcant documents of his life, a gallery of portraits, an audio record of a 1969 TV interview with him. It would I think be appropriate to include the URL of the web site on your own site. The title of the site is "Honey and Arsenic" which is an evocation of the nature of his work. I'd appreciate your letting me know if you can include a reference to the site. I am interested in this matter, understandably, as his son.
