Summer Band

                       Summer Band Program is being offered this summer beginning Wednesday, May 26^th  for beginners, and starting June 1^st for advanced band. Both sessions will end on Thursday, June 17^th.  Any student entering grades 6^th, 7th, or 8^th, regardless of what school you will be attending next year, may take part in the summer program.

            Students will have the opportunity to sign up for either or both classes-  Beginning Band and Advanced/Intermediate Band.

            The Beginning Band which meets from 8:30 – 10:00, is for any student who has never played an instrument and would like to learn how, or for students to take up a second instrument.  During the first two days of the class starting May 26^th, we will test the students on the different instruments and recommend which they should play.  Please do not purchase an instrument prior to that.  These instruments can be rented from a music store.

Note: this would be beneficial to any student planning to take band next year in school.

            The Advanced Band, which meets from 10:30- 12:00, and starts June 1^st, is for students who have played one year or more and already have their own instruments.  In this class we will further develop their technique and read though many arrangements which are out for concert band.

            All classes will be held at Denison Middle School Band Building and all students must provide their own transportation.  The cost for the summer band is $30.00.  This fee covers the cost of utilities, salaries, and custodial fees and will be collected the first day of the summer band.  There is no pre-registration; registration will take place on the first day of the class.
