CHARLES & MARY JANE SWEENEY

      CHARLES was born in 1860 in Tazewell County Virginia. He died in 1932 in Breathitt County Kentucky. His parents were JOHN W. SWEENEY & ELLEN R. BOLIN. About 1879 he married MARY JANE. She was born October 10, 1861 in Kentucky. She died February 19, 1943 in Simpson, Kentucky. Her parents were ANDREW JACKSON LAWSON & ELIZABETH BREWER They had 8 children:

        1. AVA was born July 7, 1881 and died April 4, 1940

        2. LOU ELLEN was born April 4, 1882 and died January 4, 1960

        3. ROBERT CURT was born July 3, 1887 and died February 1964

        4. ASA was born December 28, 1888 and died February 2, 1969

        5. LENIS was born March 28, 1890 and died December 23, 1961

        6. LUCY was born September 3, 1894 and died January 12, 1970

        7. SARAH FRANCES was born August 2, 1895 and died October 1981

        8. PEARL GREEN was born April 7, 1899 and died September 18, 1981

        9. JOSEPH was born July 11, 1903 and died September 9, 1995

HOME

   Mary Jane was a midwife for the area she lived in. She delivered several of her grandchildren. She would get paid about $2. If they didn't have money to give her, then she received things such as vegetables.
     I am told she smoked a corn cob pipe.
    Charles was a farmer. He was diabetic as were 3 of his daughters:
Lenis, Pearl & Sarah.
     Charles & Mary Jane came to Simpson from Stillwater, Ky in Wolfe County. Many of the children were born in Clifty, Ky Wolfe County.
      Their children were all born in Wolfe County. They were all born in Clifty except Joe who was born in Maytown.
