Ms. Dawkins and I had to figure out what we were doing for our mondays class. I came up with a project for them to do;
Famous Artist Writing Assignment
Just what is a biography?
The story of someone's life?
A tale of accomplishment?
A tale of woe?
Or is it a boring list of facts that nobody cares about?
A good biography brings the person to life . . .
makes us care about what she or he did with time and opportunity.
Who wants to read another boring biography? Not Us.
Who wants to write one? You will…but you will make it interesting!
Yes, seventh grade we are going to write in art. Writing is an art. Writing paints pictures in your head and when you read a good story you get a series of pictures in your head. That is what you are going to do. You are going to take your famous artist and help paint a picture in my head about this artist.

EXAMPLE:
Eighteen Years of Jewell
She is not tall, and not short. She is five foot four. She is eighteen when she walked through the door and looked at everyone five years younger than her. Jewell is her name, or at least what everyone calls her. Brittany Jewell Baylis is her given name, but wait, not from birth. Brittany Jewell Fuerneisen is who she used to be. (When she was merely nine years old she was adopted.) She has several nicknames. She is called Strawberry-Face-In-Love, by one of her best friends, Marta, Kiki, by another one of her best friends, Tulia, and Reds, by the people she works with.
Born April 1, 1990, Jewell lived in Elkton, Maryland from the time she was born until she was eight years old when her grandfather, who lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, had a heart attack. Her parents, sister, brother and she packed all their stuff up and moved to go live in Las Vegas where they could take care of her grandparents better. In 2001, when her parents split up Jewell, her mother, her sister and her brother drove all 3,000 miles from Las Vegas back to Elkton. She had been living there ever since.
She has one sister, Samantha Baylis, who is 14 and one brother, Daniel Baylis, Jr., who is 16. Both of them were also born in April. Her mother, April Baylis, was born August, 21, 1968. Her father, who still lives in Las Vegas, Daniel Baylis, Sr. was born on July 12, 1971. Her sister will start High School next year and her brother will be in 11th grade. Her father is Sergeant Daniel Baylis of the MGM Grand and her mother is Lieutenant April Baylis of Chesapeake City Fire Department Station 12.
With careful hands, she paints and creates beautiful cakes. Jewell is an artist, but not just with a pencil, she likes to bake cakes. She works in a Bakery at Redner’s Warehouse Markets where she is beginning to learn advanced cake decorating. Before that she worked at the K-Mart in the Big Elk Mall. Jewell worked there for 11 months.
At the time, Jewell is a student at Bohemia Manor High School. She never used to be though. She used to attend school at Elkton High School and before that Elkton Middle and before that Cherry Hill Middle, Johnson Junior High, Rose Marie Smith Elementary, Helen Marie Smith Elementary and Leeds Elementary School.
Here she is now in Bohemia Manor High School, or rather the Middle School, with a red pen in hand and a notebook in the other. Teaching is her passion. Never in her life had she thought that she wanted to teach. Most of the students know her as Miss Dawkins helper. As she takes the students attendance and introduces the art class to the students, she closes the very same door she walked through and her career has begun.
As of May 5, 2008, Jewell is still alive and kicking
