Jewel Kilcher's Astounding Success

'Pieces of You', the debut album by talented singer/songwriter Jewel Kilcher, is currently listed in the 'Top 100 Albums of All Time' having sold over an amazing 11 million copies... her follow up album 'SPIRIT' also achieved multi-platinum status!

Jewel's US success is mirrored in Australia... where her combined record sales have achieved an astonishing 11 x platinum !!!

Jewel once held the record with her single, 'You Were Meant for Me', as the longest chart performing song, totaling 65 weeks in the Billboard Top 100... only to be beaten by LeAnn Rimes just one year after. (Which, incidently, is the second time LeAnn pissed off Jewel... LeAnn won the Grammy that Jewel was also nominated for back in 1997.)

Equally impressive, Jewel's 2003 album '0304' instantly ranked her as the greatest sellout artist in the history of popular music... which was no mean feat considering that, back in 2003, legendary Australian rockers AC/DC had signed up with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Jewel's Dramatic Statement

Hot Contenter Jewel Kilcher

Reigning Champion Bai Ling
The Extreme Makeup Challenge

Not content to rest on her laurels, Jewel was open for yet another challenge:
The World Series Extreme Makeup Challenge.

Even though Asian actress Bai Ling had already entered the contest, Jewel was not deterred, she thought she'd figured a way that would guarantee her the championship:

While breathing though a snorkel, she'd submerge herself into a 44 gallon vat of lukewarm makeup for an agonizing 3 hours, then her teeming makeup was rapid-dried with a military flame-thrower to ensure a thick crusty finish.

Bai Ling, the reigning champion, had always kept her winning technique a closely guarded secret... although rumours of Bai hiring crop dusters are still circulating.

Despite her audacious challenge, Jewel's industrial-strength makeup had not set hard enough to snatch the title from Bai... Jewel had to be content with silver.

When interviewed by 'Rolling Stone', a clearly disturbed Ms Virginia Davis (Jewel's manager) wasted no time defending Jewel:

"I wish to take nothing away from Bai, she won quite impressively, I congratulate her. But Amy, Jewel's assistant, had carelessly forgotten to bring Jewel's extreme eyelashes, the ones that she wears for her live concerts... you know, the huge long furry ones that resemble a raccoon's tail."

A more composed Mr BB (Jewel's longtime personal archive manager and audio/video engineer) proudly informed 'US Extreme Sports' magazine, "It must be pointed out... Jewel's formidable challenge so impressed the judges that the highly favored challenger, Heath Ledger, could only attain third place."

The ASPCJ also congratulate Jewel for takin out the silver medal in this hotly contested challenge. Jewel's sponsors, L'Oreal, informed this site that Jewel intends to hire six Bulgarian Olympic wrestlers to blast on her makeup, deploying a high pressure fire hose, at her continued bid at next year's challenge... we wish her all the best.
