It all began on a cool and breezy
morning in September, when the winds slowly touched her face and when the most
peaceful smile gently approached her
heart...
It was past four o'clock in the afternoon. Nicole was blankly staring at the last piece of paper Floyd threw towards her direction. Floyd was finally out of her sight (at least for a moment) and was probably busy chasing Ciara around the block. She suddenly had the urge to pick the piece of paper and slowly began uncrumpling it. She saw his faintest imitation of The Music Lesson (which has always delighted her in some ways). It has always been his dream to be an artist yet for some reasons his dream was just out of reach. Although she knew he was hopeless, she continued believing in him for some still unknown reasons. Maybe she did love him and that might have been more than enough to keep her breathing. He has been the illusion of her prince and she has been unceasingly dreaming since that day onward to be his princess. Nicole never expected too much. She momentarily dreams but she knew there had to be a limit to those dreams somewhere. She was pretty much aware that too much of it could hurt - and could even kill. She has tried all means by which to forget Floyd but none ever worked. There was always something that kept her from leaving him even though he has hurt her in so many ways. Earlier that day she thought the feeling was nice but eventually she thought the feeling was sickening her. It was insane! She must admit she has been gradually changed but that did not matter to anyone anymore. She was already drowning in memories of something she knew she could never erase. She's getting annoyed with... "Nicole?" Suddenly there was Floyd Thomson in front of her - speaking to her. She was not quite sure if it was just her illusion... "Nicole McFarland?" She could already sense something wrong with the way he spoke. His voice was trembling. She hesitated to answer, but still tried. "It's such a surprise to see you here Thomson. Is there anything that I could do for you?" He was momentarily silent. "Ciara and I just broke up." Nicole was suddenly mesmerized. Was that right? They just broke up. This was what she'd been waiting for such a long time. "Why? What happened?" Suddenly there was too much deafening silence. It kept on stabbing her heart like a knife. She was hesitant of what she had been saying and what he had been thinking. "I've found out that she was just using me to get back on Michael." She actually knew everything about it. She was just so afraid to tell him and she knew he would never believe. At least he finally got to prove it for himself. "How cruel..." Nicole was running out of sensible things to say. She was no counselor to speak to him in this manner. Her heartbeat was going faster and her sweat rate increasing. She was almost inclined to faint. "I don't know what to do..." He began to cry. His shiny tears began trickling down her shoulders like pelting rain. This was eternal, she thought. She wanted to hold and conserve that very moment - that very instant he hugged her tight as if never wanting to let her go. "I still love her though..." That ended what seemed to be her endless journey in dreamland. She slowly took his arms off her. She did not know what to say nor did she know what to do. She was caught in a moment of stupidity with the one person she loved. "I believe it takes both time and love to heal." Time and love? Where on earth did those words come from? "God would never permit this to happen without a purpose. You may not be able to understand them now but sooner or later you will. No matter how much love you have, you will never be - because it's not meant to be." She suddenly paused as if losing thoughts to say. She glanced at him, looked deep in his eyes and saw the misery and pain of losing a loved one. She never knew how it really felt but she could somehow empathize the feeling. The tears had stopped rolling down his cheeks now yet his silence told her it was not over. Maybe not now. "I know God has prepared a better plan for you, Floyd. Have patience while waiting for that blessing, and in time you will be able to perceive everything that happened." He just remained silent. (She knew he would anyway.) She now thought this was more perpetual than ever. She was so close to him that it felt so unreal. It was her dream in reality. "Many people love you - and will always love you. They will never leave you." Floyd held both her hands in his'. "Thank you." "What for?" "For sharing this moment with me." The sun set and there were two figures left together in solitude. She was never aware that that day ended. All she knew was the peace in that moment. Words will never be enough to describe how she really felt that day. She remembers every single detail of it. She just knew it was destined to happen... | ||||||||
