I Gave My Life
I gave my life to Jesus nine years ago,
Claiming His precious promise
That He'd make me whiter than snow;
As I rose from the watery grave,
My old self I left behind;
All my sins were washed away,
And mine, mine, mine: Jesus was mine
The Holy Spirit touched me
In a way He never did before;
A giant tidal wave of jubilee
Watered my thirsting soul;
The seeds of holiness that Christ had sown
In my soul began to grow;
If Jesus Christ had made His appearing,
With Him to heaven I'd go
.
But, like Paul the apostle's,
My faith was tested and tried;
And to grow spiritually as Christ's disciple,
Daily in Jesus I had to abide;
The devil had lost another battle,
But, no, he wouldn't give up:
He sent fiery trials and temptations,
But, by leaning on Jesus' everlasting arms,
The temptations that were designed to make me falter
Helped me to develop a firm trust in my heavenly Father.

Nine years later, I stand a Christian,
Depending wholly on Jesus,
Who, by grace, has wrought my salvation;
I love Him more than ever,
And He loves me even more;
Glory, Alleluia!
I praise God that I've entered into life
Through Jesus Christ, the Door.
