2. Amazingly, 150 years before it happened, the prophet Isaiah had named the army general who would defeat the Babylonians. This genaral was Cyrus.
3. As was predicted, Cyrus led his army against the Babylons and overthrew Babylon in 539 B.C.!
4. The prophet Daniel had also predicted (in approximately 603 B.C.) that the Medo-Persians would be overthrown by Greece, and Greece by the Romans.
5. Did these predictions prove true? Indeed! In 331 B.C., Greece defeated the Medo-Persians and assumed world dominance, but only until 168 B.C. In this year, Greece was overthrown by the Romans, which was the ruling power during the time of Jesus.
6. Interestingly, the Bible did not predict that Rome would be defeated by a fifth world power, but that it would fall from within! According to history, that is precisely what happened!
