| My Concern About Prophecy (Cont'd) | |||||||||||||
| In Jesus' day, there were two main beliefs about the coming of the Messiah: 1. The minority believed in the suffering of the Messiah as the Lamb of God 2. The majority believed that the Messiah would sit on David's throne and break the Roman yoke. The second group crucified Christ and lost their souls, their city and their covenant with God. To this group Jesus said: "Ye know not the time of your visitation." They were mixed up in their interpretation of prophecy. I've observed that being alert when prophecy is being fulfilled is a matter of life or death. You have a choice: What method of prophetic interpretation are you going to accept? 1. Ribera's Method, taught be the Catholic Church and most Protestant churches: a. The rapture comes first b. The beast with its mark is still future (after the rapture) c. The Jews are the commandment-keeping remnant of Revelation 12:17 or 2. Luther's Method, taught by Martin Luther and all the Protestant reformers: a. The beast is here now, and is expanding it's influence worldwide b. The commandment-keeping remnant that knows the identity of the beast is also here c. They are Christians (not Jews). The Seventh Day Adventist Church is the only worldwide group of Christians that still maintains the historicist method of prophetic interpretation used by the Reformers and Protestant leaders for over 400 years. They believe that the preaching of Revelation 14 produces commandment-keeping Christians who will evangelize the world before Jesus comes. According to the plain teaching of the Bible, there are Christian believers now who are: 1. announcing the judgment of the Lord as having come 2. explaining the fall of spiritual Babylon 3. Warning against the reception of the mark of the beast. Any false teaching about the manner of Jesus' return is a dangerous deception. It may prepare the way for unwitting support of Antichrist, who will be received as savior of the world. The Bible clearly teaches that such a counterfeit will take place, and that many will be deceived. That's why I'm so concerned. Friend, what you don't know will hurt you. |
