George Washington was an important figure in the American Revolution as commander of the Continantal Army. Washinton took command of troops in Boston on July 3rd.The next few months he trained and disaplined 14,000 men in the army, trying to secure powder and supplies. One of his most memorable moments during the war, and an event which granted him much regonition, was on Christmas night, 1776. He crossed the Delaware River and surprised the Hessian garrison.. Washington was responsible for the overall direction of the war. In 1781, he planned his attack at Yorktown. Trapping Charles Cornwallis, and securing the American victory, October 19, 1781.
