BENEDICT ARNOLD
Benedict Arnold was an American Revolutionary War Major General. He fought many battles against the British. After Benedict Arnold got frustrated with American officers, he started to bargain with the British. What made him commit treason on his own country? We may never know. He planned to let the British take over West Point on September 23, 1780. West Point was such a big deal at the time because it overlooked the Hudson River, making it valuable to both sides. George Washington's headquarters were also located in West Point. Sadly, the messanger between Benedict and the British was caught and forced to tell all that he knew, spoiling Arnold's evil plan. Even though his plan failed. Benedict Arnold still recieved a large sum of money from the British. To this day, a traitor can also be called a "Benedict Arnold." He is by far the most famous traitor in history.
