Puerto Rico: Part 2

(Back in Lois' hotel room afterwards, Ned is in the bathroom changing out of his wet clothes)

Lois: "Ashton?"

Ned: "Yeah?"

Lois: "I sent your clothes to house-keeping."

Ned: "Okay thanks." (He comes out of the bathroom with only a towel around his waist) "You know we seem to have a little time on our hands. Any suggestions on how to fill it?"

{next scene}

Lois: "I never should've given your clothes to the bell-boy. I should've just made you lay out on the terrace, fully-dressed and you could just dry out in the sun."

Ned: "Well that's a thought. You could've sat there and watched the steam rise off me."

Lois: "You set this whole thing up didn't you?"

Ned: "You suggested the walk by the pool."

Lois: "You grabbed me."

Ned: "I held you in my arms."

Lois: "You didn't let go!"

Ned: "I intend to never let go of you ever again. Now don't you want to get out of those wet clothes?"

(The first part of what Ned said here was cut off on my tape from cutting out the commercial or whatever scene was before it. He said something about her catching a cold though)

Lois: "This is Puerto Rico! It's 85 degrees out there!"

Ned: "Lois! Take off your wet clothes! If it makes you feel better, I'll turn my back."

Lois: "I'll go use the bathroom." (She goes into bathroom and shuts the door)

Ned: (To himself) "Don't rush her. Whatever you do, take your time."

Lois: (Calling from the bathroom) "Did you say something out there?"

Ned: "I said take your time." (He picks up a bottle of Lois' nail polish)

Lois: "You're being awful quiet out there." (She opens the door and peeks her head out) "Whaddya doin'?"

Ned: (Holds up bottle of nail polish) "Nice color."

Lois: "Put that down!" (Goes back into bathroom and shuts door) "You know, not everything belongs to you, Ashton. You can't just go around doing as you please!"

Ned: "You called me Eddie when we went into the water."

Lois: "It was a reflex action."

Ned: "I liked it. Did you mean what you said?"

Lois: "When?"

Ned: "Before we got wet...Lois?"

Lois: "When have I ever said something I didn't mean? Unlike some other people I know."

Ned: "Well, not long ago you were pretty mad at me."

Lois: "I meant that too."

Ned: "What changed your mind?"

Lois: (Muttering to herself) "Good question." (To Ned) "I don't know...maybe I figured you'd become a new and different person but you're just the same old Ashton."

Ned: "That's not true and I think you know it. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to admit you keep thinking about the good times and how I made you feel. Now did you actually say that you would die of loving me?"

Lois: "Yeah. And there's something else I want to say before I chicken out. It felt really good to say all that stuff out loud."

(Ned quickly walks to the bathroom door but stops as Lois continues)

Lois: "But that doesn't mean I'm done being mad at you or that I could ever look at you the same way again. But I do love you and yes, you don't deserve it."

Ned: "But don't we both deserve to be as happy as we can possibly be? You deserve to be more happy then I do of course and Eddie deserves to be happy. He's a good guy. Good guys shouldn't finish last."

Ned: "You know I tried to do my best by him. Preserve his existence, but it wasn't enough. I owe him and I owe you. And I like to think that I owe myself at least the chance to prove that I'm not the self-serving eel that you and Eddie think I am. The two of you taught me how to love and Lois Marie Cerullo Ashton, all I'm asking for is the chance to love you back."

Lois: (Comes out of the bathroom) "Enough already."

Ned: "I like that."

Lois: "It's the only thing I had hanging in the bathroom."

Ned: "The only thing better would be a towel."

Lois: "I think only one of us in a towel is temptation enough, thank you very much!"

Ned: "I'll take mine off then."

Lois: "No don't you dare Eddie-Ash-no!"

Ned: "Lois, this name thing is kind of confusing me."

Lois: "It's not the only thing that's confusing."

Ned: "I rather like Eddie, but if that's to painful, just call me Ned."

Lois: "I don't think I'm ready for that."

Ned: "Whatever."

Lois: "Maybe never..."

Ned: "Never? Never is a cruel, cold word. Let's work on this."

(Once again I missed what Lois said here when it came back to them)

Ned: "Oh, the kind of stuff that was happening out by the pool before we took a dip?"

Lois: "I'm not sure where that stuff came from."

Ned: "I'd like to think that it was always there, but the hurt and the anger got in it's way."

Lois: "I was trying to figure that out in the bathroom. I started to-I mean, here I was giving you all this grief about telling the truth and look at me."

Ned: "Well, it just wasn't the whole truth. You were mad enough to skin me alive."

Lois: "What made me even madder was I couldn't get you out of my system. But that doesn't mean that I'm ready to forgive you. It just means that we had a really good thing going and I miss it."

Ned: "So do I."

Lois: "If I didn't admit that, I'd just be playing games too."

Ned: "I'm finished with the games. When I told you that I would never lie to you again I meant it."

Lois: "Jeez, you know, why don't you put on a bigger towel or something? Here, here, put this on." (She throws a blanket or something at him and his towel falls off.)

Lois quickly turns around and covers her mouth with her hand as Ned puts his arms around Lois. They fall back onto the bed kissing passionately until there's a knock at the door)

Lois: "I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming!" (Throws open the door to find the bell-boy holding Ned's clothes) "Thank God! It's your clothes!"
