Eddie Maine and Lois Marry

(Right after Lois begins hyperventilating as Eddie and Lois are about to elope.)

Lois: "You know, it could've been alot worse. I could've just passed out completely."

Ned: "Lois, what's the matter?"

Lois: "It's just too much. It's happening to fast. I don't know what it all means."

Ned: "It means that you're having second thoughts."

Lois: "Me? No, me is not who I'm worried about. You're the one who's gonna wake up tomorrow morning and you're gonna scream, 'Get me out of here!' "

Ned: "Lois, getting married was my idea."

Lois: "Yeah and a brilliant one it was. But why? Why rush it? I mean if you can have second thoughts you have to have an option for a clean getaway."

Ned: "You make it sound like a prison break."

Lois: "Some men think marriage is."

Ned: "Not me."

Lois: "Fine. Good. I mean if the institution of marriage is so terrific for you this week, then it'll be even better next week, next month even. Sometime when my ma is going to be able to show up with the entire family and I'm not paying for it for the rest of my life."

Ned: "You're having second thoughts."

Lois: "No baby. I just want to make sure this is something you really, really, really want to go through with."

Ned: "I really, really, really do."

Lois: "Why?"

Ned: "Okay because...because I took a good look at my life and I realized that it means nothing without you in it."

Lois: "But Eddie, I'm not going to anywhere. So why marriage? Why this very minute?"

Ned: "I made a mental list of my priorities, you know and you were at the top. Number one."

Lois: "Thank you! I love you but you still haven't convinced me why this is some immediate, dire emergency."

Ned: "Just believe me, okay? It is. Life is short, things can happen to us that are out of our control and then what do we end up with? Nothing but regret."

Lois: "There are still so many things you don't know about me. You don't even know if I've ever really-if I've been married before. I mean, these are things that people discuss, you know? I mean, that's why people have long, long engagements."

Ned: "But I don't care about that."

Lois: "Well I haven't been married before, you know just..."

Ned: "Well good because that's what I said on the marriage license application. What do you want from my life already?" (They laugh)

Ned: "Did you hear that? I'm already starting to sound like you."

Lois: "You do love me, huh?"

Ned: "More than you'll ever know. Please put me out of my misery-tell me you'll marry me. Here. Today."

Lois: "I wanna marry you in the worst way."

Ned: "But?"

Lois: "I'm terrified."

Ned: "Of what?"

Lois: "Of everything. Of everything I don't know about. What it means to be married. I mean, how do we know if it's enough to love each other? And how do we know we're still going to love each other when I'm folding laundry and you're coming home exhausted after a long day of selling pills on the road? I am not ready to fold laundry yet, Eddie. I love you, I love you to death but I'm not ready to keep the meatloaf warm in the oven for my door to door salesman."

Ned: "Lois, I promise you that will not be our life. These beautiful, gorgeous hands (He kisses her hand) will not be folding laundry."

Lois: "Eddie, it's a fact of life. You gotta fold laundry or else it all gets wrinkled."

Ned: "We'll figure out a way."

Lois: "How can you be so confident?"

Ned: "Because I know. Because I trust my heart. There was a time-I won't lie to you-that I thought I was in love before. And maybe I was in a way. But believe me I've never known anything in my life the way I know us. This is our moment.

Lois: "Look at me."

Ned: "What?"

Lois: "I'm breathing again."

Ned: "Good. Breathing is a good thing."

Lois: "All that stuff, the anxiety-gone. Let's do it, Eddie. Let's get married. Let's get married today!" (They hug)
