From the beginning, Jetstart has always behaved like more of a social than an athletic endeavor. Our primary focus has never wavered; we're in this for fun. Yet, through continuous hard work and dedication we have become steadily more competitive year after year.
Jetstart can trace its history back to 1990. Originally formed as an Air Canada corporate team, Jetstart still has, at its core, a number of Air Canada employees. Over time, other members have joined the team from numerous other fields such as health care, finance, engineering and education. Based in and around Toronto, Jetstart has never shied away from travel. We proudly represent our city, province and country in places as far away as Vancouver, San Francisco and mainland China. Indeed, our greatest moment thus far was our tournament win at the 2006 Circus Capital Stanley Dragonboat Championship in Hong Kong. With another festival win in Milton and twin fifth-place finishes in Nanning and Longyou, 2006 is off to a roaring start. We love to race and it shows as we compete in up to ten events every season. We were thrilled to compete internationally in the birth place of our sport at the height of the dragonboating season. It was extremely gratifying to have all our preparation over the off-season pay off so handsomely. Our spirit can be infectious and we're proud to boast a long list of friends from all points of the compass. Whether it's ROLI in the west, BAD in the south, the Chiros in the north, the Wongs in the east or Team Chaos at home, we love making new friends so don't be afraid to introduce yourself to our captain Alain Ruel or any one of us and say "Hi!". So, without further ado, we'd like to wish all the other teams a hearty "G'luck!" and we look forward to seeing you on the water.
