Oh look, i haven't died. In recent news, I finished classes so I have nothing to do for the next week but lounge around campus, sleep, wash the jeep, get drunk, and, within the next couple of days, put a new layout up. So watch for that. Yeah. Okay, go out and get drunk. Go. Now.

Oh, look. An update! Wooooooo.
Recent obvious revelations (aka the "yeah i coulda told ya that" list):
    1. Classes still suck. So do exams, essays, and anything else that requires input.
    2. It got cold out. Dammit.
    3. The Sunsets are built like shit.
Proceeding chronologically...
1. I'm getting sick of studying. When's break? I spent a considerable chunk of time yesterday and today finding classes for next semester. Seems like every semester they offer less stuff. Particularly in econ. So scheduling has become a game of finding the four classes that look the most painless.
2. Today I finally faced the fact that summer's over and, despite being a Denison student, I can't continue wearing sandals all winter. Unless I also buy a pastel colored polo shirt. And flip up the collar. I now own closed-toe shows. Very novel.
3. Sunset A/B/C residents: word on the street is that if you jump up and down on your floor hard enough you will flex the subfloor enough to break the water main for the sprinklers and flood out the apartment of your downstairs neighbors. This is desirable if you don't like them or they constantly piss and moan that you make too much noise. That'll teach em to complain about your subwoofer! Nothing proves a point like 4 inches of water on your nemesis' floor.
In other news, I made an attempt at the whole luau idea. Problem was, everyone on campus left town this weekend. Still a good time though; some fun people stopped by and it was real chill. And the drinks were good. :-) Photographic evidence. There'll be another (bigger) one late this semester, or (most likely) early next semester, so stay tuned. Perhaps for the next one I'll actually get the roomies to involve themselves and invite some of their cronies over too.

I have yet again neglected my webpage for over a month. Shame on me. It's been a crazy semester; matter of fact I'm getting pretty sick of it. I'm really starting to develop a strong dislke for all of my classes. Grrrrrr.....
On the social side of things, all's been well. Last weekend was Homecoming Weekend up on the hill, which was fun because about 20,000 alumni showed up. It was amusing oberving them at Brews and the Villa as the males in particular spent untold thousands of dollars buying drinks for the female students. Additionally, there were several parties in various locations. Actually, there were so many that I had more invites than time to check them all out. That's a first. So anyway, good times, good times.

Oh, get a load of this: I got a letter today informing me of a class action lawsuit filed by "Mason Bancroft, et al, and other similarly situated customers" against Apple Computer, Inc. over the "claim that hardware graphics acceleration and DVD playback on certain Apple computer models...did not perform in Mac OS X as Apple Computer, Inc. ...had purportedly represented." The covered products include several Macs, the newest of which was discontinued in Sep. 2000, including my *old* iBook, the 366 Special Edition. OK, here's my 2 cents on this little suit. First, of the machines listed, only *one* (the Bronze keyboard PowerBook G3) offered a DVD player in the first place. My iBook never shipped with a DVD player. The 466 iBook SE did, but it wasn't introduced until October 2000, the month after the model cited was discontinued. So, how can users complain of an incompatibility when the possibility of such is not possible? Sorry, plaintiffs, got ya there. Now, how about "hardware graphics acceleration..." Rather vague, no? Reading further into the letter indicates that people apparently had difficulty running "certain graphics applications, games and/or to play DVDs." OK, let's back up. I had a model listed [Sep 2000 iBook Special Edition]. I installed the first public release of Mac OS X soon after it came out. Graphics were fine. Between that time and when I retired it and handed it over to Mom (January 2003), I ran each and every Mac OS X update, and thus, have used every version of OS X. It has never had any problems, at least that I've observed, with graphics acceleration. So, Mr. Bancroft et. al., what the fuck are you people whining about?? If they happen to win in their day at court, all they're entitled to is up to $129 reimbursement for the copies of OS X they bought. Final ruling's sometime in January. Man, some people....
Oh, by the way, here's the case: http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/civilCaseSummary/...

Anyway, there's that. This weekend should be awesome. Third Eye Blind's going rock the hizzouse tomorrow! OK, it's Friday, off to do my typical Friday routine of washing the Jeep and running errands. Later yo.

Sunday, 21 September 2003. 17:15
OK, first update in months. Senior year has been awesome so far! Classes blow as usual, but I partially remedied that by dropping one of them. I didn't really feel like taking International Political Economy anyway. :-) The social scene has been pretty good... fun to see everyone, and I've made some good new friends as well. Hopefully the party scene picks up a little; parties around here seem to have been a little off so far. Oh well, still September...
Speaking of parties, this past Friday I finally got around to building the tiki bar in our apartment. It totally rocks the hizzouse! There will definitely be some parties here, but I'll have to be careful since Sunset A is substance free and all. Boo.
This Saturday was fun. Being Parents Weekend, mom came down for the afternoon, which was fun. Then, my sister decided to come here for the weekend. But, being Parents Weekend, there weren't a whole lot of huge parties. We checked out one or two things, but mainly stuck around here and broke in the tiki bar. We showed up at Brews 2 at 2:05...5 minutes after they stopped serving. Dammit.
Anyway, Consumer Economics and the test this week are calling my name. Just wanted to put a quick post up here. Go do some work!

NOTICE! My AIM screen name, Jetson41, is going away soon! My new screen name is CCCommander35. IM Me or Add me to your buddy list. Thanks!

In other news, I've been working like mad at the internship. All's going well. Also, T-Sea *finally* floats and runs. Life is good! Hope everyone's summer is going OK, and I'm anxious to see everyone this fall. Laters.

Thursday, 22 May 2003. 23:27
Sorry bout that. Kinda forgot about updating my page. For like a month. You also might have noticed that I've spent about 2 hours total online this whole week. Summer has been unbelievably busy. In fact, more busy than school. But in different ways. I spent the first couple of weeks getting caught up on the dozens of projects that I neglected while I was at school. Then, this week marked the start of my internship with the Completions and Acquisitions department at a Cleveland company that manages fractional jet ownerships. It's been really exciting, but this week has been information overload. It's been a long, intense, tiring week! And, on top of that, the office is a mere 55 miles from my house. I estimate that by the time I return to school this fall, the Jeep will have an additional 7800 miles on the clock just from the commute, excluding any other driving. Wowzers. It's all good though. Last tank of gas the Jeep scored 21.3 mpg, which ain't all that bad for driving like a banshee through Cleveland at 75+ mph.
So anyway, in other news... it was a *really* fun year at Camp Denidoo this year; living in the 9-man was a blast. Thanks to everyone who had something to do with that. At the same time, though, it's always nice to be home. Hopefully one of these weeks I will begin to salvage what little summer social life I have. Also, hopefully one of these weeks I will have T-Sea floating. Still lots of work left before launch though. Oh well, I'll get there.

Monday, 21 April 2003. 17:03.
Word. Wow, only a couple of weeks left until I'm out of here...which is both good and bad. Good in the sense that I'll be done with this semester and its ridiculous amount of work. Bad in that it's been a fun year around here. But we all know that senior year is going to be da bomb! So it's all good.
For everyone who went home for Easter, hope you had a good time. And for those of us who stuck around campus, hopefully you enjoyed yourself too. My party Friday was cool, glad everyone came. For those of you who either went home/didn't show, you should've been here! Oh well, water over the dam. Check the gallery for pix. BTW, I still have a shitload of booze, so I might try to fit something in between all of this weekend's crazy events. Stay tuned.

Tuesday, 08 April 2003. 20:18
So get this. Earlier today I'm standing in the checkout line at Meijer, and as usual I casually peruse this week's "headlines." Ahh, supermarket tabloids do provide entertainment, albeit in a sick, perverted, twisted kind of way. Usually, however, I end up making mental criticisms of the bullshit they report. I've found myself wondering on a regular basis how they don't get sued for libel every week. Seriously! When they're not telling you about Rosie's lover walking out, or which Hollywood star's divorcing whom (all while recovering from a near death experience with drug addictions), they dazzle you with stories that usually involve Jesus Christ in some way, shape or form. Or their exclusive interview with, that's right, a talking fish (yeah, you read that right) that predicts the end of the world. However, this week's Weekly World News in particular caught my eye. [See picture insert.] Look! Oil on the moon! If you can't make out the subtext, it reads "Gas prices will fall to 10 cents a gallon as Arab oil becomes obsolete!"
You know what I really love about the tabloids? Besides the fact that they get away with essentially making up dirt on celebrities, their stories are so REALISTIC! I mean, come on! Publishing the aforementioned story implies that the WWN writers have absolutely NO knowlege in (a) science or astronomy (astrology, yes, but not astronomy), (b) economics, or (c) goddamned common sense! Allow me to explore these areas in detail:
--> (a) Let us review where oil comes from. Oil is a fossil fuel. Fossil fuel comes from millions of years of decomposing and compressing plant and animal remains. The moon has no traces of ever having had any of the life necessary to create fossil fuels, not to mention the fact that there isn't water, oxygen, etc etc on the moon either. As a direct result, it is unkilely that any flora or fauna are going to pop up any time soon. Idiots.
--> (b) Now I shall discuss the economic side of this. Let's assume, for now, that there is in fact oil on the moon. For all practical purposes the whole moon could be one big fuckin oil refinery. Now, WWN, here's my question: How do you propose to find a way to transport it all here, and at the same time be able to sell it at prices unheard of since 1950?? I didnt' think so. Also, on a different note, look how pissed people got when the proposal was brought forth to drill in Alaska. Imagine what they'd think if we drilled into the moon!!
--> (c) You know what? I give up. There's no way of knowing what substance these people were on when they thunked up this story. As the old line goes, "Never argue with an idiot. First they bring you down to their level, and then they beat you with experience."

Anyway, that was fun. I've always wanted the chance to publically laugh at the tabloids. I hope everyone's week is going moderately well. Also, for that matter, I hope everyone's weekend was fun. Mine was cool, I had a good time hanging out! Oh, it's getting about time to have a party here. Date and time of said event aren't yet set in stone. Whenever it is, however, there will be lots of good music, lots of cool peeps, and LOTS of good alcohol! You better be here! I'll keep you posted as to when it's going on :-)

Monday, 31 March 2003. 17:35
OK, this is going to be a short one. Total sleep last night was 0 hrs, 0 mins, compliments of that damned econ paper. As a result, I'm tired, not creative, and surprisingly not long-winded. I'm also probably going to be asleep by the end of this post. I'm starting to get sick of these all-nighters; I'm putting in, on average, about 1 a week. This is getting old. Only good part about the all-nighter was that I got to see the sunrise.

you got BOOTED

Sunday, 23 March 2003. 15:20
Ahh, Sunday. Reality has now set back in after 2 days of pretending I have no work to due. Which, my friends, is not the case. Here comes another week of working my ass off just so I stay above water. Armageddon will be this Wednesday at 12:30, which coincides with the date/time of my Econ exam.
This weekend turned out to be pretty good. Friday was pretty low key. I came back after dinner and ended up falling asleep on my davenport until like 10:30. Whoops. Afterwards I watched a rugby video with Eric and then hung out in the suite. Good times. Saturday was cool. Went to see comedian Jeff Ross at the Roost. He was hilarious! Afterwards we made an appearence at the Lambda party, which was rockin as usual. Lots of cool people there. Following that we headed down to Brews 2 and enjoyed the live music down there. Fun times had by all.
Hopefully everyone else had fun times this weekend. As previously mentioned, it is now time to get my study on. Laaates.

Wednesday, 19 March 2003. 11:37
Well, I'm back in the groove of college after spring break, which, of course, means going to a bunch of boring classes and otherwise filling the time by procrastinating when I should be working on Econ. Spring break was relatively uneventful for me, but nevertheless a nice chance to relax for a bit. Unlike my sister, who flew straight from her school in Florida to California and ended up at the Tonight Show, I put in the 2 hour, 8 minute drive to exotic Vermilion, Ohio, which is just now beginning to thaw from being underneath large amounts of snow and ice. Everyone else in the entire state went to Florida, so none of my home acquaintences were around to hang out, party, etc. But that's OK, it gave me a chance to work on the Jeep plenty and work a bit on Econ. Speaking of the Jeep, as expected it is now impeccably clean, which makes me happy.
St. Patrick's Day was absolutely wild and crazy around here! At least half of the people at the dining hall were visibly drunk. Example: some dude a couple of tables over randomly stands up on his chair and removes his pants, then sits back down and spends the remainder of the meal in his boxers. I got talked into going to the bar party, so that was cool.
Tuesday was Eric Wittmer's 21st Birthday. Congrats dude! This also means that I am now officially the only person in the entire suite who is still 20. Damnit. Oh well, my underage days are numbered (Well, they were numbered 3 years ago, but that number's a lot smaller now).
Alright, I shall now resume my previous trend of productivity for a few minutes, and then head off to lunch and class. Take it easy everyone!

Thursday, 06 March 2003. 02:47
Yeah so it's a little past my bedtime. Oh well. I'm just chillin here, gettin a few things done, groovin to some t r a n c e [] c o n t r o l. Update from the previous weekend: Friday. Pat McGee rocked the hizzouse. Their stuff has a good sound to it, and the U2 cover was money. Saturday. So I find out at approx 8 pm that the around the world party that was supposed to take place in Sunset D was cancelled, and thus quickly decided to fill the void in my place. Appearances were made by many, good drinks were consumed in large quantities, and good times were had by all. Glad everyone showed up! Come back again! Following the party, the inevitable 2 am Tee Jaye's pilgrimage took place. Camera was brought along. The Sequel to the original Tee Jaye's Photo Documentary has been completed. It definitely rocks the hizzouse.
I'm anxious to roll home on Friday... I am definitely in need of a break from the incessant barrage of assignments I've had each and every week all semester. Hopefully the weather holds out, and it's warm/dry enough to undertake the 2003 installment of the annual spring break Jeep detailing. It needs it! For everyone who's going someplace far and exotic, have fun, don't forget the SPF45, and have a safe trip. For those of us who are just going home, have fun, don't worry about the SPF45, and have a safe trip.

Wednesday, 26 February 2003. 14:15
So this Saturday it's going to be March and the high temperatures are still in the 20s. It was damn chilly walking back from Taco Bell last night. Oh well, at least we got some snow earlier to play in. Damn snowplows cleared every large parking lot in sight before I could have any real fun though. And believe me, I looked for one. Grrrr.
Is it just me, or is anyone else a little offended by the advertisements that showed up overnight for the Vagina Monologues? For those of you who either (a) aren't at Denidoo, or (b) haven't gotten up yet today, they have chalked every sidewalk on campus. Now, before I get criticized, allow me to state that I have no problem with the VM, the fact that it's happening, or the fact that it's being held in the Chapel (remember that controversy a couple of years ago?). I also have no problem with advertising for it. It's a campus event. The word needs to be spread. (whoops, no pun intended) But I'm a little annoyed by the controversial/graphic attributes of the slogans that were written down. Examples include: "Vaginas are cool," "I like cunt," "Vagina fun zone" or something like that, "Don't just procrastinate, masturbate," etc. etc. OK, so apparently they touch on similar topics during the monologues, but I think said slogans are in poor taste. I'm so glad I didn't have to give a tour today; that one would have been interesting to explain to a clueless prospective and/or overbearing parent. I doubt I'll get any criticism on my rant here, since in order to do so people would have to actually *read* this page, which, as we all know, no one reads it. Anyway, I'd just like to emphasize that I have no beef with the VM, just the advertising for it. People will go to see it by choice, but sidewalks covered with words that would be bleeped out of broadcast TV just shoves it down everyone's throat. Also, casual reminder that from time to time faculty kids walk through here!
Woah, I've pissed and moaned for like 3 pages on this. Time to talk about something positive. Spring break's coming up pretty soon--hells yeah--and it's supposed to be 35 degrees this Friday, thus allowing me to wash the Jeep. :-) Also, I have a test tomorrow and a film review due Friday, so I'm going to work on that for a while.

Monday, 24 February 2003. 14:56
Aforementioned weekend prediction turned out to be true. It was a good time. Hung around East Quad Friday with some friends, paid a visit to a couple of parties. Made good use of the flask. ::grins:: Saturday was a blast...happy 21st Adam! Keg was tapped in 3 hours. Eric and I kicked some major ass on the beirut table...won 3 rounds in a row. Once midnight rolled around, we made our way down to Brews Too, where the party continued. Having been little sibs weekend, Lesley *should* have been here, but I couldn't convince her to come up here from Florida. Lesley, you reading this? Come up here next time yo! Oh well... this was one hella good weekend. Uh, i just used the word "hella..." I promise it won't happen again.
I got a 95 on my PoliSci paper (the one I worked on until like 5 in the morning). Woohoo! Funny thing is that I thought I had filled it up with bullshit to meet the page requirement. But apparently it was the right kind of bullshit, because Djupe liked it. Go me. He's giving the test back on Wednesday... let's see if my continuation of that brand of bullshit earned me a decent test grade too. :-)

Friday, 21 February 2003. 16:12
This weekend is going to be craaaazy!

Monday, 17 February 2003. 12:03
Perhaps you noticed that it snowed this weekend. (See pictures to right.) Totals for the weekend have been estimated at between 10 and 15 inches. Yaay. Now, the sucky part: Denison is the only school that I know of in the state that actually has class today. Despite the fact that the whole county is under a Level 2 Snow Emergency. Bah. By the way, I wish anyone who parked behind Shep (see picture) the best of luck getting their cars out of that snowbank there, which has grown to become the approximate size of the Appalachian Mountains (give or take a few percent).
Anyway, I hope everyone's weekend was fun. Mine was awesome. Friday I went to the little, shall we say, soiree in the "sexy six." Very good times were had by all, and it was fun to pimpify myself. (Note: another *single* Valentine's Day....sigh) Saturday was awesome too, it was fun hanging out.
Like last week (and the week before), this week's going to kick my ass all over. [Expletive deleted] midterms/papers/projects. All this work is really starting to chap my ass. In fact, it frosts my balls too. (Inside joke, certain individuals will see humor in this). So I should start working on some of it. Laaates.

clicky.

Monday, 10 February 2003. 19:29
Announcement: Between today and Thrusday, total anticipated sleep for Tom, in hours, is 3, give or take a few minutes. By Thursday, approx. 95% of Tom's bloodstream will be caffeine. (Note: FRIDAY, on the other hand, 95% of the bloodstream will be cheap alcohol, but that's another story).

Saturday, 08 February 2003. 13:31
Afternoon. Thanks to everyone who has commented on the page. This verifies that someone's actually reading it. ::cough, cough, ego:: I would take this opportunity to tell everyone else who hasn't seen it to go check it out, but if people haven't read it then telling them to do so here won't do any good. Nevermind.
Hope everyone's weekend is going well. I was alarmingly sober all last night, but it was a good time. Ended up hanging out with some people at Easton, and then came back here and watched a movie. This afternoon I need to get a lot of crap done, which is why I'm updating my webpage.
I took note yesterday that there is a Hummer H2 on campus. With a Junior/Senior parking permit on it. Michigan plate. No idea who owns it. That's quite a piece of automobile. Yesterday I made the mistake of parking in close proximity to it, and when I came back out I couldn't find my Jeep. It kind of disappeared into the shadow of the H2. I imagine that is a common trend. I would venture to say that, from the H2's driver seat, various other things disappear from the roads, including Toyota Tercels, pedestrians, small children, bicyclers, and pets. At least it's got running lights all over it, so you can easily see it coming and quickly remove yourself from its path. Worst case, don't worry...the oversized brush bar will prevent the hood/grille from getting scratched or dented.
Ok, time for Tom to do some work. Hopefully there's something fun going on tonight. Laaates.

Monday, 03 February 2003. 15:12
Word. As I've been promising for months, here is the new page! I hope it is well received...I'm pleased with it. Now that it's up, hopefully I'll manage to find time to update it more often...I have become quite the slacker in regards to keeping the page up to date.
Anyway, we're now entering the fourth week of classes. (Should I follow that remark by a "woohoo!" or a "goddamnit I'm already ready for the semester to be over?") I'm finding that the classes I'm in this semester won't be my all time favorites, but oh well...I intend to pass them all. Hopefully your classes are good. Party scene so far this year has rocked. Thus far I've had a good time hanging around up on the hill.
Today it has reached a balmy 51 degrees. Of course, it's overcast and damp, and what snow was left has now turned into mud and sogginess. Ewww. But it was nice that it warmed up for a couple of days.
Anyway, time to get this badboy uploading!
