Up to garden layout
-acer palmatum dissectum 'seiryu'
-"green dragon" Japanese maple
-purchased from Fantastic Plants (
www.fantasticplants.com) in 2004
-planted in its current location in April 2005
-current height ~6'

This is the first tree that I ever planted, and it has proven amazingly resilient, having survived virtually every mistake that a novice gardener can make. It seems to have forgiven me for giving it too much sun, wind, water and fertilizer, then digging it up and leaving it for dead in a container over the winter. As the photos show, it appears pretty happy in its new, shadier, drier location.
-New foliage is delicate, bright green
-Habit is upright, a bit gangly
-Tiny, red flowers create a striking contrast
Snow-covered foliage after a late April storm - you gotta love Ohio.
Fall foliage is crimson-colored.
