Transport helicopters are extremely useful to commanders who need to insert troops or equipment quickly & accurately onto the battlefield. Although troops are the usual cargo, field howitzers & light armour can be underslung in a cargo net or on a special sling. Transport helicopters are particularly useful to assault forces such as the Royal Marines, who need to be inserted quickly to avoid detection by the enemy.
