Trainers are extremely important. Without them, pilot training would be virtually impossible. Although simulators are now highly realistic, they cannot replace the real thing. The RAF has a large fleet of training aircraft & has always had one of the highest training standards of any air force in the world. Without the excellent training that takes place on the RAF's trainers, the RAF, Fleet Air Arm & Army Air Corps would be considerably less potent fighting forces.
