| The Short Sperrin was designed to Specification B.14/46 for an interim low-cost heavy jet bomber. The Sperrin was to be the RAF's insurance if the more radical V-Bomber projects failed. Unfortunately for the Sperrin, it was beaten into the air by the Valiant. Two prototypes were built, & supported the V-Bomber project. They were used for experimental work & systems testing, & even dropped dummy atomic bombs. The Sperrin was grounded as an economy measure. | ||
