| The Hawker Sea Fury was a development of the Fury land-based fighter designed to meet a 1942 requirement. The first naval version featured the outer wing panels of the Tempest fighter & a powerful radial engine. The first Sea Fury flew in February 1945, & began to enter service in 1947. Production of the Sea Fury for the Royal Navy amounted to 615 aircraft in three main variants; 50 F.Mk10s, 505 FB.Mk11 fighter bombers with arrester hooks & RATO gear & 60 T.Mk20 two-seat trainers. The Sea Fury performed well with the Fleet Air Arm, & the type is credited with the destruction of a MiG-15 in the Korean War. | ||
