The Post-War Fleet Air Arm was much larger than it is today. The war left the Royal Navy with a large fleet of aircraft carriers. Many were sold to help pay for the war debts, but the rest were kept in operation to face a new threat- the Soviets. Many new technological advances were made in both carrier & aircraft design during this period. These aircraft are the predecessors of modern naval aircraft, & have seen action in nearly all of the UK’s Post-War campaigns. |
