A Family Within

When you look at me
Don't judge me from where you stand.
I'm really not that different from you,
All i ask is that you try and understand.

I am not just me, but I am us
A family that lives within.
Sometimes i am a lady of 36,
Or a child with a happy grin.

So if for a moment I am not me
Don't walk away in fear.
For who you may see at that time,
Can bring you happiness that is sincere.

I didn't ask to be the way i am,
A choice that was not my own.
But i'm thankful for the life I have,
I'm a survivor and never alone.
