The last twelve hours in the life of Jesus Christ are portrayed in this terrifying movie, telling us just what our savior went through for us.
This movie is powerful.
To begin my review, my day began like this. My Dad asked me to help him set up the manger scene outside. I was angry. I said "ok" without thinking, but I didn't feel like whining out loud and cauding a ruckus in my little house, so I just sat there, hammering stakes into the ground for the manger scene. I hit my hand with the hammer. It hurt. Imagine smashing your finger between a stake and a metal hammer. Ouch.
Imagine how petty I felt watching that stake being driven into a man's hand. An innocent man, who was beaten, bruised. His eye was closed over, it was so swelled. Just imagine. Imagine the whip lashes. "1! 2!" Imagine the cat of nine tails. Imagine the metal getting stuck in your skin, and it tearing out. Imagine being the victem of a torture that was known for ripping your skin open so much that your bowels spilled out. Imagine living through it. Imagine those rips on the back of a rough, splintering wood. Imagine pushing yourself upwards on a nail in your feet, praying for a breath.
Imagine.
It is impossible. But for the Christian, the non-believer, the atheist, the agnostic, this movie is essential. It's the closest thing you can get to understanding the true passion of the Christ. The true love which could make a man endure such punishment.

However, it takes maturity to endure all that. Please, don't let your children watch this movie. It is not a good "breaking-into R movies" picture.

Rated For:
Violence: This movie is rated R for violence. I do not suggest letting any kids under thirteen watch this movie. The R rating is very appropriate. I had to shudder a lot. If you cannot stomach violence, I don't suggest watching this movie.

Sexual and Nudity: Slight, brief, not innapropriate nudity.

Language: 1 d*mn

Offence to Chirstianity: Obviously, this is a very Christian movie. The only things I can think of is the people killing Jesus obviously, were ticked at him. But, um, that's in the Bible, so... Another point is a few things were added or adjusted for theatrical purposes. I can't see this as offensive. The point of the movie, I think, is to tell people what Jesus had to go through in order for our salvation, not exactly to potray a historical retelling of his life. I think it was neccesary.

Other: Satan is a character in this story. He is potrayed as a bald woman with a man's voice. It's creepier than it sounds. There are demonic children in this movie, which are possibly creepier than the deivl-chick. I don't know how to describe it. I can imagine them easily giving a young kid nightmeres.
