Just the cool air of the night focuses my thoughts- though I am sometimes afraid since it is completely dark- what might be crawling in the rustling bushes- but you know what? God is my protector, and He will keep me safe as I walk with Him.
Also, every morning because of my hearts change in focus (from myself to the Lord) I wake up with Him on my mind so that I don't take a breath before I acknowledge the Lord. It is so important that we do this! And I've just discovered this now! How much time I really do have to make up.
I encourage all of you to take your relationship with Jesus Christ to a new level. I challenge you. Go tonight! He is not afraid of your questions and He is more than happy to walk with you and help you sort out your days. Give Him your time and you will find that the more you do, the more He just pours out His peace and love upon your soul. You experience true rest in Him for the first time- and nothing can startle or dissuade you. You stand firm because you know Who has saved you.
I can't stress enough about how much your relationship with God is NOT based on feelings. There are so many times when I don't feel close to the Lord, yet I know that He is right there near to me. It is truly about knowing your Saviour and obeying Him not about seeking an emotional drive from His presence- because I guarantee it- Jesus presence in you through His Holy Spirit -if you are a true believer- is always with you. The conditions that debar His constant communion and fellowship with you are not on His part. He is constant in His love and affection for you.
Take the right place before Him and He will be most ready to share His heart with you and fellowship with you. You will have the peace that trancends all understanding when He is with you. And honestly it doesn't feel like you'd think peace should feel. You're not all goosebumpy and happy. You know what? You are content- with everything. You are truly happy with the way God has organized things, and you do not complain. You bring your requests to Him and He gives you His peace... such wonderful peace. You have faith that God will do His perfect will for you in His timing and you are content to wait until He brings it to pass.
Become more intimate with Jesus, and you will also learn the ways of His heart and how He sees things, and how He sees you. Such a forgiving and gracious God! If you want to know God's will, taking a walk with Him as often as you can will help you understand what His will is. How can you know someone unless you spend time with them?? It is certainly no different with God. Seek Him first. His love will never cease to bring you new life and joy!
