King Christian X of Denmark

Christian X, King of Denmark (1870-1947)
He was King Frederik VIII's and Queen Lovisa's eldest son. He entered the army where he was named mayor general on Infantry. In 1898, he became chief of the Royal Guard. In 1906 he married Alexandrine, daughter of the Duke of Mecklenburg Schwerin and sister of Cecilie, Crown Princess of Prussia, by whom he had two sons, the future Frederik IX and Prince Knud. Christian became Crown Prince at the death of his grandfather in 1906 and King at the death of his father in 1912. In 1915 he approved the new constitution that gave women the right of vote. Under his reign, in 1920, Schleswig returned form Germany to Denmark after a plebiscite, and a Danish merchant marine was developed. In World War II, during the German occupation in Denmark, King Christian was the symbol of national unity. He died in 1947 and was suceeded by his son Frederik IX.
Haakon VII, King of Norway (1872-1957)
King Frederik VIII's second son was born in 1872 and he was named Charles. He married on July 22, 1896 to his cousin Princess Maud of Great Britain, daughter of the Prince of Wales, the future Edward VII. The couple only had one child, a son who was named Alexander. In 1905, when Norway declared its independence from Sweden, Prince Charles was elected King of Norway with the name of Haakon VII. His son and heir became Prince Olaf. King Haakon was beloved by his subjects but he didn't actually govern, he only reigned. During the German invasion to Norway during World War II, King Haakon and Prine Olaf had to leave the country (Queen Maud had already died), and refuged themselves in England. After the war, they returned to Norway. Haakon died in 1957 and was succeded by his son as Olaf V.

Princess Louise of Denmark (1875-1906)
King Frederik VIII's third child and first daughter married Prince Friedrich of Schaumburg Lippe by whom she had three children, Marie Luise, Christian, and Stephanie.
Prince Harald of Denmark (1876-1949)
King Frederik VIII's fourth child and third son married  Princess Helena of Schleswig Holstein by whom he had five children: Feodora, Caroline Mathilde, who married her cousin Prince Knud, Alexandrine Luise, Gorm and Oluf.
Princess Ingeborg of Denmark (1878-1958)


Princess Ingeborg married in 1897 to Prince Carl of Sweden, Duke of Vastergotland, who was son of King Oscar II and brother of King Gustaf V of Sweden. She had four children: Margareta, Martha, Astrid and Carl. Martha would marry Prince Olaf of Norway, son of King Haakon, and she was the mother of the actual King of Norway, King Harald V. Astrid married to King Leopold III of Belgium, and she was the mother of two subsequent kings of Belgium, Baudouin I and Albert II.
