The Banda: an Italian gang, sort of like a futuristic mafia. Stationed in Peccato City in a post-apocalyptic earth world, they employ--- and execute --- mercenaries on whim. The vigilante/mercenary known as Silhouette is bent on destroying them, but he can't until he gets information that Camella refuses to divulge.
battlement: a parapet built into a wall or rampart with gaps for firing guns or arrows.
Black Elf: a subspecies of elf and a variety of humanoid. These elves broke off from their brothers when they attempted to become gods, thus disobeying their creator and, as punishment, becoming sinful and mortal. Now, this culture has withdrawn into itself, becoming a strict Puritan-like society obsessed with sin and penitence. They have the ability to move through the earth, but as a result, cannot touch moving water without dissolving and dying. Water is very symbolic for death in their society. Despite how rigorously disciplined and depresed they have become, they still hope for the day when they will be redeemed.
brashishi: a curse word in some other-dimensional language.
C
Christian: Greek for "follower of Christ." Not to be confused with those who use the title butlive for themselves.
code-switching: the process of jumping spontaneously from one language to another while speaking.
cracker: slang, meaning a Caucasian person.
crona: {CREE nuh} an Irish pet name meaning "my heart."
D
D-hop: a shortened term for "dimension hopper." Much easier to say, especially in situations where time is short.
D-hole: a dimension portal.
Dia dhuit: {JEE-ah gwitch} Gaelic for hello. Literally, it means "God (be) with you." The proper response is Dia's Muire dhuit, or "God and Mary be with you."
dimension coordinates: a complicated combination of numbers and letters programmed into a D-gun, specifying where in the universe a portal should lead to.
dis: short for disrespect, it can be used as a noun ("That was a pretty bad dis") or a verb ("He just dissed me!").
diva: by cynical standards, a girl considered to be too perfect, too nice, and too pretty. Others feel as if she looks down on them without ever truly saying so.
dreadlocks: Long braids or strands of tangled hair. Sometimes abbreviated to dreads.
dulce: {DULL-say} Spanish for "sweet." In addition, dulces can mean candy or, when used as an adjective, "softly or gently."
E
Eire: {AIR-ah or IRE} Named for the mythical goddess Eriu, this island eventually became known as Eire Land, ore Ireland. In Rome, it was also known as Hibernia, the land of winter. The Winchesters' human ancestors are from ancient Eire.
Elf: a variety of humanoid. This species is sometimes considered to be a hybrid of human and faerie, as it is composed of both clay and air. The elf's air-like properties make him lightweight, and the clay-like properties ensure that, should he die, he would decay into dust and ash (unlike faeries, who shatter and disappear). While elves were originally immortal, some elvin descendants chose to rebel and turn to evil, earning themselves a sinful nature and therefore mortality. Their children inherit this henceforth. Therefore, there are now two races, the mortal Black Elves and the immortal Elves of Morning, who have grown rather embittered against each other. While Black Elves have the ability to move through the earth, it is said the Elves of Morning have lost this power, due to declining DNA.
Elf of Morning: The more common elf, still pure and immortal, free and happy. Because they have interbred so much, their genetics are too weak for them to still move through the earth as the Black Elves do. However, because they are flawless, they cannot die by water, although they can be killed by other fallen beings. For fear of being corrupted by the Black Elves, they have withdrawn into their own dimension, putting themselves out of temptation's reach.
empty dimension: a "world" consisting of nothing but empty space. Dimension hoppers sometimes use empty dimensions to generate their own simple abodes with the use of gravity orbs.
Eskralantiala: {ESS-kra-LON-shee-AL-la} A world ruled by an amphibian/reptillian/slightly mammilian species. This world is actually three dimensions that have merged into one, and Eskralantiala is always willing to merge again. (Its name means "united.") The people work toward universal peace and will never, under any circumstances, engage in war, although they will sometimes consider offering resources to both sides.
F
Faerie: a variety of humanoid. While humans are generally composed of clay, this race is composed of water and air, resulting in their fragile appearance and light weight. They are also naturally endowed with magic, so they need not call upon outside forces in order to "cast spells." They are generally at least six feet tall, fair-haired and fair-skinned, and they are immortal, possessing no sinful nature. Human legend holds that the kingdom of the Faeries is underground. This stems from the fact that the portals to the Faerie realm (usually Lenovra) appeared in the ground.
frag: taken from the world "fragmented," a substitute curse word. Usually not considered offensive.
Freak World: an elusive dimension wanted destroyed by many other dimensions. Ruled by one mysterious figure known only as the "Freak Lord" (or "Great One" to his slaves), this world is infamous for snatching formidable warriors out of their worlds and enslaving them for the Freak Lord's personal gain.
G
Goth: a genre consisting of anything "dark," morbid, or out of the ordinary (unclassical). It's most commonly associated with black clothes and loud music. The plural is "gothics," not "goths."
gravity orb: a technological device that is capable of generating a sort of force field within an empty dimension. Usually teamed with other gravity orbs, this would then create a "building" with an inside, but no outside. Inter-D uses gravity orbs to generate its headquarters.
H
halo ball: a non-lethal weapon that works like a buoncy ball, but explodes into a gel-like halo upon contacting anything warm (such as a machine or a living body). Although capable of recycling carbon dioxide into oxygen, the halo is impenetrable by most lasers.
hijab: the head scarf and veil that Muslim women use to cover their faces.
holo-game: a type of game somehow involving holograms.
hood: human street slang, short for neighborhood
human: a variety of humanoid. This race is composed of clay, generally the heaviest and clumsiest of the humanoids. It is rare to find an immortal human, as it is said that the first humans were easily deceived by darkness and chose sin (and therefore mortality). As a result, all of all of their descendants and charges (the animals and the earth) also inherited a sinful nature, and it is speculated that this catastrophe also resulted in the universe splitting into different dimensions. Because the elves and faeries were given the gift of sentient choice, they were not affected by man's choice. However, they may choose the same path at any time, as some elves have already done.
humanoid: having human-like qualities. Humanoids include several species whose races can intermingle and reproduce without resulting in sterility. These races include faeries, elves, and the garden-variety human.
I
Inter-D: an affiliation of dimension hoppers sworn to protect other dimension hoppers, also offering dimension-related services to other worlds in exchange for resources and alliances. Their headquarters resides in an empty dimension.
J
Jesus: the reason that everything exists, and humanity's only hope for eternity.
K
kippurim: its Hebrew root means "to cover up," such as covering a sin--- except in this case, the sin isn't just hidden, but completely erased from existence. In Winchester 1, Rabbi Loem refers to Yeshua as the kippurim because He was the sacrifice that nullified all of our sins.
kyrie: {KEER-ee-ay} Greek for "O, Lord," meant to respectfully invoke God. The phrase "kyrie eleison" can be translated to mean, "O God, have mercy." As a type of song, the kyrie is usually the first to be sung during a musical mass.
L
Launch Room: a small room in Inter-D where missions are prepped and launched. A computer-operated portal generator makes up the far wall.
M
MIA: Missing In Action
middleverse: a world similar to an empty dimension that exists outside of time. While those imprisoned within do age, they may escape to find themselves hundreds of years past or before the time in which they lived. It is impossible, however, to predict exactly how much time will pass outside for the person inside. Middleverses are commonly used for prisons for the highly undesirable.
modi: a tiny, reptile-like creature that feeds on energy. Its home world is almost constantly experiencing lightning storms. This creature is drawn to light and energy, and moves very quickly in order to catch it. If it gets too much, however--- for example, if it is taken from its environment to a city full of electrical power ---it gets out of control.

O
P
PC: politically correct
portal grenade: the X-D equivalent of a D-gun. It is programmed and tossed, immediately opening a portal upon contact with the ground, a wall, etc. D-guns have an advantage over portal grenades because they can open portals in thin air.
plasmal: a slang term commonly used by D-hops to describe something especially "cool" or awesome. It may have roots in the word "plasmic," which has the same meaning.
Q
qu aventurero: {kay ah-ben-choo-RARE-oh} Spanish for "how adventurous."
R
rampart: a wall or fortification, as surrounding a castle, meant to protect those inside.
S
shaelid: {SHAY-lee} Gaelic for "princess of the field." Shae by itself means "gift."
slag: originally, a hunk of molten junk. Sometimes used as a substitute swear word, and usually not considered offensive.
T
TeenRec: a youth outreach and drug rehab program for the troubled youth of a slum city. Run by a low-budget church, it's a miracle that the place is still running as smoothly as it has, but there's something about the homelss shelter, day care center, chapel and teen lounge that have kept the donations flowing just enough.
U
unicorn: a horse-like creature with a twisted gold horn. Most humans believe them to be mythical, as unicorns have almost completely abandoned man-ruled dimensions. This wise and immortal race is so pure that it can detect the level of purity in others, lending to man's legend that a unicorn will come to a virgin if she waits in the forest long enough. Normally quiet and creatures, unicorns usually wander alone and never start a fight, but they will fight fiercely if provoked. The horn can be used both to harm and to heal.
V
vid: casual abbreviation for video. Teens use this to refer to vid-games, vid-screens, movies, etc.
W
Warehouse of Weaponry: what the younger D-hops have nicknamed Inter-D's armory. It's sometimes referred to as simply "the warehouse." The more experienced hoppers usually don't refer to it by its jovial nickname, because they find the giant shelves of guns and knives are more foreboding than they are tempting.
White Planet: unknown to most modern druids, the White Planet is a secret sect of druids that has been trying to invade Lenovra for centuries, ever since Patrick won Ireland to Christianity. Still feeling persecuted after six hundred years, they have been searching for a way back into the "Otherworld"--- the Faerie world, Lenovra --- in order to have a place of their own again. Lenovra is an easier target, because "no weapon of man" can function there, so it's safe from nuclear war. It is also supposedly free of the Christian faith, which would make living a lot easier for them.
X
X-D: an anti-dimension group that often resorts to violent methods. Founded by alleged madman Parker Alton, the X-D are responsible for the existence of Inter-D, which was formed for the protection of D-hops. The X-D have killed hundreds of dimension hoppers, at least, in the last two decades.
Y
Yeshua: {yuh-SHOO-ah or YAH-shwah} the Hebrew name for Jesus, and probably His original name. The name Joshua also comes from Yeshua.
