Modes and Commands for Operator's IRC |
||
|---|---|---|
|
You MUST have channel operator privileges to issue these commands and modes and be oped up. Three exceptions to this: /nick nicknamehere command /notify nick message here command /invite Nick #RoomName Command |
||
|
Mode |
How to Set the Mode |
What it does |
|
+d |
/mode #RoomName +d |
This will make it so no one can change their nick in the room. |
| -d | /mode #RoomName -d | This will make it so people can change their nicks, in the room, again. |
| +b |
/mode #RoomName +b Nick or /mode #RoomName *!*@ISPhere |
This sets a ban on a nick to keep them out of the room. If you know their ISP you can add it also. |
| -b |
/mode #RoomName -b Nick or /mode #RoomName *!*@ISPhere |
This removes the ban on a nick and they can enter the room again. If you added their ISP to the ban be sure to remove it also. |
| +i | /mode #RoomName +i | This sets the room on invite only. This means outsider users must receive an invitation from a channel member before they can join the channel. |
| -i | /mode #RoomName -i | This will remove the +i and make the room open to everyone again. |
| Invite | /invite Nick #RoomName | You may invite users to join you on a certain channel using the /invite command. |
| +l | /mode #RoomName +l number | If the +l is set the channel is limited to whatever number of users you set it too. If the room reaches capacity, no additional users can join the room. In other words if you set the room to 25, then only 25 people can enter the room. |
| -l | /mode #RoomName -l number | This will take the limit off the number of people who can enter the channel. Remember that if you limit the room to 25 people then when you remove the limit you MUST put in the number 25 again. |
| +m | /mode #RoomName +m | If set the channel is moderated. This means that only channel operators, or users who have been given permission, can send text to the room. Users will still be able to send private messages. |
| -m | /mode #RoomName -m | This will take the room off moderate and everyone will be able to send text to the room again. |
| +n | /mode #RoomName +n | If set the channel cannot receive /msg's from users who have not joined the channel. |
| -n | /mode #RoomName -n | This removes the +n and makes it so users from outside of the room can send /msg's. |
| +o | /mode #RoomName +o Nick | This will give channel operator privileges to the nick. |
| -o | /mode #RoomName -o Nick | This will take channel operator privileges from the nick. |
| +p | /mode #RoomName +p | If set the channel is a private channel. |
| -p | /mode #RoomName -p | This takes the room off private. |
| +s | /mode #RoomName +s | If set the channel is a secret channel and it does not show up on the channels list. |
| -s | /mode #RoomName -s | This removes the +s and makes the room show up on the channels list again. |
| +t | /mode #RoomName +t | If set only channel operators may change the channel topic. |
| -t | /mode #RoomName -t | NEVER set a room to -t. |
| /kick | /kick #RoomName Nick reason here | The /kick command forces the client <nickname> to be removed from the channel <channelname>. The comments parameter is optional, but if included will be sent to <nickname> after he has been ejected from the channel. They can still return if a ban is not set. |
| /nick | /nick newnicknamehere | You can change nicknames by issuing /nick newnickname. All PC users on the channel will be informed about the change. You will still see your old nick EVEN though it has been changed. The server will not let you change your nickname unless you chose a nickname that is not currently in use. If you change to a registered nick be sure to identify to the server right after issuing the /nick newnickname by clicking the ID button on your irc and entering your password and then clicking OK. A word of warning here. If you change your nick you will be able to send private messages to other users but you will NOT be able to receive them. This is because the server will recognize your nick change but MSNtv will NOT. |
| notice | /notice Nick message here | /Notice allows you to message in much the same way as the /msg command, but notices are reserved for information that would generally require more attention by the receiver of the message. You can send /notices but NOT receive them. ONLY the PC user you send the message to will see it and only PC users can see /notices. |
| +v | /mode #RoomName +v Nick | Gives the ability to speak on a moderated channel. |
| -v | /mode #RoomName -v Nick | Takes the ability to speak on a moderated channel. |
|
If you type the commands incorrectly you may be ejected from the room because of a MSNtv glitch. You will find instructions on how to set all these modes and commands in the irc under the INS button which is right below the text area. |
