Tigerton put forth one of their best showings of late in a tough 57-43 loss to conference-leading Rosholt.
Tigerton came out shooting well, hitting 33% of their shots in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Rosholt was cold, shooting only 18% for the quarter. Tigerton led, 12-8. In the second period, Rosholt was able to claw back to a 23-20 lead before a four point run gave Tigerton a 24-23 advantage with less than a minute left in the half. The ninth Tigerton foul of the half allowed the Hornets to tie up the score at halftime, 24-24. (Side note: Rosholt was called for one foul in the first half.)
In the third quarter, Rosholt's press finally began to work, as well as their interior offense. A 17-9 third quarter allowed Rosholt to take control, and Tigerton's foul trouble kept them from coming back in the fourth. (Side note: For the game, Tigerton was called for 18 team fouls; Rosholt was called for only 5. Tigerton would not have been in the bonus situation had the entire game's fouls been added. Also, Rosholt shot 15-of-21 from the free throw line to Tigerton's 1-of-2.)
Nick Desrochers led the Tigers with 23 points while Rosholt's Jason Scott led all scorers with 24. Tigerton's next game is at Port Edwards, the second-place team in the conference. (NOTE: Tigerton's game with Almond-Bancroft scheduled for January 22 has been rescheduled for February 15.)
