The Penguins' defense held Nick Desrochers to only 14 total points (only 5 in the second half) in their 46-30 victory over the Tigers.
Tigerton started out well as Desrochers hit two three-pointers against the zone defense of Tri-County before the Penguins called time out with 5:30 to play in the first quarter. They switched to a tighter man-to-man defense, which worked much more effectively. Tri-County led after the first quarter, 11-9.
Tigerton managed to stay close in the second quarter and trailed the Penguins 21-18 with 3:00 to play in the half. A 7-0 run to close the half gave Tri-County a 10 point halftime advantage.
Tigerton's did not get going in the second half as they scored only 12 points while committing 12 turnovers. Tri-County took a 36-25 lead into the fourth, then worked the clock to hold on to the win.
Desrochers was the only Tigerton player in double digits with 14 points while Tri-County's Tim Williams had 15 points and Travis Cummings had 11. Tigerton's next game is the makeup game with the Almond-Bancroft Eagles.
