Tigerton got on the board first as Nick Desrochers hit a three-pointer just :08 into the game, then held the lead through most of the game until the fourth quarter when the Wolves outscored them 22-11 to earn the come-from-behind non-conference victory, 62-54.
Both teams were hot in the first quarter, with Tigerton outscoring Manawa 18-14 thanks to a technical foul (and the ensuing possession) on the Manawa coach for failing to report a player in the official scorebook. They cooled considerably in the second, as Manawa closed the score to 24-21 at halftime.
In the second half, Manawa's J. Balthazar scored 22 of his game-high 27 points, including four three-pointers. Tigerton kept up the pace, even though Randy Tiutczenko dislocated his finger, as Josh Graham scored eight points and Desrochers scored nine in the third quarter. Tigerton led 43-40 going into the fourth.
Tiutczenko returned in the fourth to score four points to keep the Tigers in the contest. Manawa led, 53-50 with 4:00 to play. The Wolves 11-of-14 from the free throw line down the stretch to secure the victory.
Desrochers paced Tigerton with 24 points while Graham contributed a season-high 10 points. Tigerton travels to Gresham on Friday night.
