My holiday in Portugal

This year (1998) for my holiday I went to the beatiful country of Portugal. Together with a good friend; Susan

This is a picture of me and her (I'm the one the right)

First we went to the city of Porto,
with the beautiful bridge designed by the same guy
who designed the Eifel tower

We went to see some port cellars

There are 3 different kinds of Port wine
White, Ruby and Tawny (my favourite is Tawny)

Here we are tasting some Port wine
The one in the wooden box is a 52-year-old-great-tasting-twany-port

There are also some very nice parcs in Porto

With some peacocks :))

Leaving Porto behind we went to Braga (ofcourse by rental-car, by foot would be too awful)

They make some very nice old-fashioned pictures there

And they have a beautiful church with a nice
stairway with little chappels with in them
statues who tell you the life of Jesus

Afther that we went to Aveiro

Were you can enjoy very nice sea-food

and make a nice boat-trip

Then on to Nazare

If you take this cable-car you will have a most beautiful view of the sea

In Obidos we slept in a "Pousada" a sort of castle, we felt like princesses

Our last stop was in Lisbon were we stayed one week
first we went to see Belem

This is Torre de Belem

Then we went to the EXPO, that was great!!!
The theme was oceans
We completely fell in love with Gil (the EXPO mascotte)

We played with water

Water played with itselve

And the Austrian pavilion had a computer set-up wit a webcam, so you could send a nice e-mail with picture to your friends and family from the EXPO

And my girlfriend for the first time of her life ate snails (they realy taste great in Portugal)

And then we had to go back home... too bad because we had a realy good time...
