The stereotype mentioned relates back to the spelling of Munro in relation to the film goddess, Marilyn Monroe. Stereotypes are so common in society, making it a firm base to work from. I read further into the stories and gradually evoked ideas outside the plot. The abrupt endings;

 

“…I understood what a mysterious and oppressive obligation I had, to be happy…”

 began to make sense- “it was possible”(pardon the pun). I am able to relate the struggles of the adolescent characters to my own teenage self. These stories may have been written several decades ago, but they are still relevant to this day.
