| "When you get, give; when you learn, teach." ~Maya Angelou One simple but powerful way to use your life is starting a "Kindness Chain". Performing acts of kindness is a quick and easy way to improve your life. This idea was taken from Oprah's Angel Network. For more great inspiration, see the movie, Pay It Forward, but have tissue handy! Here's how to start: * Do something nice and thoughtful for someone else, that's it! Encourage them to "pass it on" so the chain isn't broken. * Create a Kindness Journal to document your chain as it grows! On the inside cover of a notebook, write your name and address and ask that the journal be returned to you when it's full. * Write down your first good deed and give the journal to the person that you did something nice for, so they can do the same for someone else! This creates a great book of inspiring stories. And pushes the receiver of a good deed to pass it on! * Perform your good deeds in your community, at school, at work or church. You can choose a friend, an aquaintance, a stranger or a group of people. Start as big or as small as you like. Cookies, housecleaning, yard work, babysitting, a greeting card, a clothing drive for someone who had a fire. |
