When they landed, they were at an abandoned shop in a city. Jessie dragged Ash into a back room and locked him in. �And don�t even try to escape. There�s no way out of here without the key!� He started yelling for help and Jessie was laughing. �That sound is music to my ears. To bad no one will hear you.� She turned a radio on full blast and left the room.
�James, we finally won!� He started doing a silly dance and Jessie joined in. Meowth interrupted them. �Don�t forget about the other twerp�s pokemon.� Jessie and James didn�t care. �Let�s not mess this up. We have the strongest out of the twerp�s pokemon so lets be satisfied with what we were able to steal.� Meowth thought that made sense. �But what will we do with the twerp in the other room?� Jessie could still hear him yelling even though the radio was on. �We could get him to work for us. I can be very convincing.�
Jessie walked back into the room where Ash was and he started yelling at her right away. �What do you want with me, Jessie?� He looked mad so she went up to him and started trying to convince him to join up with them. �Haven�t you ever had the urge to do something bad? Even once? Come on, tell me.� Ash knew what she was getting to. �Why would I want to do something bad, especially after seeing the way the both of you are? And if you�re going to ask me to join you, the answer is no!� Jessie could tell that she wouldn�t get anywhere by talking to him. �Fine then, I�ll just have to this the hard way. Seviper, go!� The snake pokemon came out of its ball ready for action. �Seviper, bite attack!� The snake lunged at Ash and bit him right on the arm. Then Jessie commanded her pokemon again. �Now, wrap attack! Then poison tail!� The pokemon lunged at Ash again, this time wrapping around him then launching it�s tail at him in a poison attack. �Now will you listen to me? I�ve obviously won. Now you can see, the good guys don�t always win.� She was smiling, confident that she would get him on their side any moment. Ash was still trying to struggle but was exhausted. �Alright, you win! Just call back your pokemon!� After she called seviper back, Jessie walked up to Ash and helped him up. �Remember what you said.� He wanted to just run out of the room and get away but he was too weak and he told Jessie that he�d join them. �I remember.� Ash had his head hung down, with a look of defeat on his face. For some reason, he felt he couldn�t break a promise, even if it was to Team Rocket. Jessie was smiling evilly. �I can read you like a book. I know how you feel about breaking a promise. Looks like you lost, brat.�
Jessie went back to James to tell him the good news and decided they should raid the Cerulean City gym next. �But that�s where Misty is!� Jessie paid no attention to his whining and made the team get onto the balloon. When they arrived in Cerulean City, they headed straight for the gym and planned to go in the front door and raid the place. Now that they had Ash, they were confident they would win. When they broke the door down, Misty and her sisters were relaxing in the pool. Team Rocket started saying their motto:
Prepare for trouble.
And make it double.
To protect the world from devastation.
To unite all peoples within out nation.
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
To extend our reach to the stars above.

When Misty saw her best friend with Team Rocket, she started to cry. �What happened to you, Ash?� He didn�t answer or even ask for her help because of the promise he made to Team Rocket. Jessie let her pokemon out first. �Seviper, wobuffet, attack!� Ash and James sent out their pokemon too. Misty was still standing there looking stunned but quickly knew she had to fight back. �Starmie, go! Water gun!� The attack was bounced off by Jessie�s wobuffet�s counter attack. It hit Misty and her sisters with twice the force and they were defeated. Jessie and James ran to make their getaway but Ash noticed that they didn�t steal any pokemon. After they were on the balloon, he asked them why and they started laughing at him. �We wanted to make you and your precious girlfriend fight, that�s why.� They continued laughing and Ash just sat in a corner of the balloon with his head down.
The next place they stopped was Pallet Town. �There is no way I�m going to ruin my reputation in my home town!� Team Rocket looked at him with a funny look on their face and started coming closer to him. �You have no choice. We�re in control now, twerp!� They lowered their basket and dragged him out with them in front of his mother�s house. Jessie started giving Ash orders. �It�s either this or raiding Professor Oak�s lab. What�s it going to be?� He couldn�t do anything to hurt his mom and he couldn�t bare the thought of Professor Oak seeing him like this. �You�re not giving me much choice here.� Jessie, looking amused at what she had done, went up to him just to make him feel even more uncomfortable. �Well you always say a promise is a promise. You�re not going to back down on that are you?� Ash didn�t know why she was being so cruel. �How long do you expect me to do this for you? You�re not even stealing any pokemon. All your doing is making me look bad to everyone I know.� Jessie and James looked at each other then looked back at him. �Very good, twerp. You finally figured out what we�re trying to do. The question is, what are you going to do to stop us?� Ash didn�t know what to say since he made that promise. �Look, I know you�re mad at me for stopping you from stealing pokemon all the time but I�m only trying to do what�s right.� They both knew how he felt so they tried to make a compromise. �Do you actually think we�re ever going to stop being bad? And why haven�t you ever reported us to Officer Jenny when you had the chance? It�s obvious you like us.� Ash was sick of the questions. �I don�t report you because I never thought you guys could ever be that bad. If you wanted me out of your way, you would have done something a long time ago, right?� Jessie thought about this. �You�re right, we are going easy on you and for the simple reason that there are other ways to get back at you, like right now.� He had a puzzled look on his face. �We�re playing with you�re emotions. You mess with us, we mess with you.� Ash was about to punch Jessie out when his mom noticed the commotion and came outside to see what was wrong. Ash looked back at her and whispered quietly in her ear. �Please don�t make me do anything I�ll regret. I know you�re not that bad.� She just nodded to him in a reassuring way and tossed him back his pokeballs. �We�ll be waiting outside.�
When Mrs. Ketchum saw the commotion, she was a bit surprised. �What�s Team Rocket doing here? And why were you arguing with them?� Ash wasn�t sure what to say. �Nothing�s wrong, they�re just being annoying like usual.� Ash yelled that last part loud enough so they could hear. Ash and his mom could hear them laughing their heads off outside. He was a bit sick of them always laughing at him so he yelled back. �Will you both just shut up!� His mom was a bit startled at his actions but jus ignored it. �I missed you so much.� She realized pikachu wasn�t there. �Where�s pikachu? Did you leave him at the pokemon center?� Ash didn�t want to tell her what happened. �Pikachu needed a rest so I left him with Brock.� His mom could tell something was wrong. �Pikachu never leaves you�re side. Are you sure everything�s alright?� Ash couldn�t tell her what happened. �Everything�s fine, mom. Why�d you ask?� She decided to drop the subject. �I just find it a bit strange for you to leave pikachu with someone else, that�s all.� They were about to sit down and have lunch when Team Rocket came barging in like they owned the place. Jessie went closer to him and whispered something in his ear. Ash immediately backed away. �What�s you�re problem? And you can�t just invite yourselves anywhere you want.� She tried to keep from laughing but couldn�t. To make things worse, Jessie tried flirting with him. James looked at Jessie with an angry look on his face and when she saw him she stopped. �What�s wrong James? Are you jealous?� He tried to act calm but couldn�t do it very well. �I like you, that�s all.� She thought he had been acting a bit different around her lately. �Like me in what way?� He had been trying to keep it from her but finally told her the truth. �Jessie, I love you.� She couldn�t believe he just said that in front of Ash and his mom. �You sure aren�t shy right now.� James felt like he was about to get turned down and opened his mouth to start an argument but Jessie quickly grabbed him and kissed him right in front of both Ash and his mom. When the kiss was over, James was speechless. �Does that answer you�re question?� He blushed a little. �It sure does.�
Ash and his mom were staring in shock at what they had just seen. �Get a room!� Team Rocket started giggling realizing what they had just done. Ash went up to them to tell them off for inviting themselves in his house like that but they grabbed him into a group hug. Ash tried to pull himself away and finally they let him go. �You guys are acting very weird today. I don�t know what it is but you�re never nice to me so why start now?� Jessie and James looked at each other again then looked back at Ash. �Just don�t tell anyone that we were nice to you and we�ll stop being so bad.� Ash was really confused now. �You mean you would actually quit Team Rocket?� They started giggling again. �We�re not that bad. You just get us going.� Now Ash was very confused but didn�t want to argue with them anymore. �I won�t tell anyone about this but there�s one thing I don�t understand.� Jessie looked at him in the eyes. �And what�s that?� He didn�t really want to know the answer to the question but asked anyways. �You�re still going to annoy me though even if you aren�t with Team Rocket?� James looked at her like he wanted the answer to that question too. �Oh, we�ll never stop bugging you. Besides, judging from what I see, you like it.� Ash knew they wouldn�t stop following him around and he couldn�t blame them. �You guys like it just as much as I do.� He turned his head for a moment and looked back but they were gone.
All of a sudden, Ash woke up in his sleeping bag beside his friends. He was very confused. Pikachu was there next to him sound asleep and it was 10 O�clock in the morning. Brock was making breakfast for him like nothing had ever happened. He thought to himself. �Was it all a dream?� Mai looked at him. �Is something wrong, Ash? You seem out of it a little.� He decided it must have been a dream because Team Rocket would never act like that. �Everything�s fine. Let�s start training for my next gym battle.� Ash went out into the woods to let out his pokemon when Jessie and James jumped out at him from the trees. They were holding hands and looking at each other in the eyes. He was a bit uncomfortable after that dream. �What do you guys want?� They looked at him and replied. �Oh nothing, Ash. Nothing at all.� They were giggling and then he realized it wasn�t a dream. �But how�d you do that? I was at my mom�s one second and the next it�s like nothing ever happened.� They we�re still giggling. �Don�t worry. None of them will remember a thing.� Ash turned around to leave when they both just appeared in front of him. �How�d you do that?� They looked at each other again at the same time, thinking Ash would have figured it out by now. �It�s like you do everything together, at the same time, thinking the same thing.� They realized they would have to tell him. �Ever hear of the Gemini Twins?� Ash was about to respond but he blinked and they we�re gone.
When Ash was done training, he was starving. �Hey Brock, what�s for dinner?� Mai went up to him. �Who we�re you talking to out there?� He wasn�t sure what to say. �Team Rocket jumped out at me, that�s all.� His friends all found it weird that there was no argument but didn�t bother taking the question any further. �Dinner�s ready. Afterwards, we should get some rest so we can wake up bright and early tomorrow morning.� Ash thought about Team Rocket all night but couldn�t figure out any answers to his questions.
