Misty eventually followed the car to an odd looking house. She hid as she saw Ash get out of the car with two other people. When she was sure they were in the house, she peered through the window to find a very shocking sight. Jessie and James were talking to Ash like they were close friends or something. She could hear what they were saying through an open window. Jessie was rubbing his neck and it looked like she was helping him with something. �So how�s your schoolwork been going?� Jessie was asking Ash that and he wasn�t even in school! Ash opened up a laptop computer and started complaining to her. �I don�t see why I should bother doing this. I hate having to get courses over the Internet!� Jessie was getting a little impatient at him. �Just answer my question!� He pulled up a page on the computer with a list of credits he had earned. Jessie examined them closely and kissed him on the cheek while saying, �Guess what I got in the mail yesterday?� Ash looked up at her and she showed him a high school diploma with his name on it. �I don�t understand. It went by that fast?� She pulled a chair next to him and leaned on the table. �Well since I made you work a lot harder, then yes! I know I pushed you quite hard but you graduated high school and you�re only twelve! Now do you thank me?� Ash nodded as he took the diploma from her. �So what now?� Jessie was searching through a website with lists of universities that offered some of the best online programs. �I�m willing to pay the entire fee if you want to be serious and go on to a university program!� He noticed some programs that caught his eye right away. �There�s so many that I�d like.� She put a hand on his shoulder. �I�ll pay for your schooling as long as you�re serious about it. You can take as many programs as you want and I know that you�d be eligible to get mostly everything paid for. I think they might even let you do two programs at the same time. You have done a lot of remarkable fast tracking in the past so I wouldn�t be surprised. I don�t think it would be that hard for you either.� Ash and Jessie were at the computer for three hours filling out forms and applying for things. Misty couldn�t believe her eyes as she watched this happen. �What�s going on?�
Misty had fallen asleep outside the window and was awoken by the sound of the door opening. Ash was walking out of the house with Jessie and James. They were about to get into the car when they heard something near the bushes. �Misty?� Ash saw her foot sticking out of a bush she tried to hide in and grabbed her. �Let me go!� He tried to calm her down but noticed Jessie and James weren�t too pleased. �Why were you spying on me, Misty?� She started to yell. �Why wouldn�t I spy on you? You disappear every night and you�re always on that stupid computer of yours! I�m concerned about my best friend!� Ash looked at Jessie and let Misty go. �Should we tell her?� Jessie and James looked at each other. �I guess it can�t hurt as long as she can keep the secret. If she doesn�t than our cover is busted.� Misty didn�t know what to make of this. Ash had been hiding things from her and she was his best friend. He looked so nervous and about ready to cry as Jessie started to speak.
�You might want to come inside and sit down for this.� Misty reluctantly entered the house and sat down. �You see, there�s this secret that we�ve kept for so long because it would endanger Ash�s reputation if it were to get out.� Jessie took out some papers to show Misty. When she read them, it almost caused her to faint. �Ash was adopted. We are his real parents!� Misty got up to leave when Jessie grabbed her arm. �We were doing what was best for Ash! If word got out that he was a child of two Team Rocket members, how do you think it would have affected his ability to get so far? It was his dream to become a pokemon master and I wanted what was best for him!� Misty pulled her arm free and started to cry. �That�s not why I�m so angry! I�m angry because Ash knows he can tell me anything and I would understand!� She paused before yelling again. �What about how cruel you usually are to Ash? You�ve done some pretty nasty things to him!� Jessie sat down. �It was to cover up! Our boss knows. Usually if a child is born in Team Rocket they have to serve the organization for the rest of their life! That�s what happened to me!� Misty was concerned about more than that and Jessie could see it in her face. �You weren�t just covering up all the time! There were times that you done things to Ash that really did hurt him! You might not have seen it but it did affect him!� Jessie rolled her eyes. �Oh, please! Can�t a mother have a little bit of psychotic fun once in a while?� Misty didn�t know what to say. Ash had lied to her. �I�m sorry Misty. I didn�t know if I could trust you. I�ve been afraid to trust my whole life! I�m not like them, Misty!� Jessie and James walked up to her with serious looks on their faces. �We didn�t want Ash to become like us so we did what was best for him. We both could see the innocence in him ever since he was born. We�re not even half as bad as the other Team Rocket members! They would kill someone just to get their pokemon! James is more of a misfit in Team Rocket than anywhere else and the one thing that makes me so bad is because I�m a little crazy.� Misty thought about this for a few minutes and asked, �Why don�t you trust anyone?� He looked at her with tears in his eyes. �I�ve been hurt several times before so I guess it affected me a lot. Does this have to change our friendship? I�m still the same person I always was. Misty, I love you! Please don�t let this end our friendship.� She gave Ash a hug and whispered in his ear. �I love you too, Ash. You�re right and I�m not the type of person to judge someone for things like this. We�ll just have to keep the secret together, now won�t we?� He nodded, still crying but now they were tears of happiness. �Thanks Misty.� It was almost dawn so they had to hurry back to the campsite. Jessie dropped them off but Ash looked back at her. She grabbed his hair and started to pull. He stayed quiet but didn�t really appreciate the way she showed her affection for him. �Don�t you just love how nutty I am?� Jessie laughed as she let go. �I can put up with it!� Ash hugged her back and ran to catch up with Misty.
